Wondering just who that new guy Selena was cuddling up to is? Read on to find out all about Ronan!
After a photo surfaced of Selena Gomez getting up close and personal with a sexy man who definitely wasn’t Justin Bieber, it left a lot of people wondering: Just who is this Ronan Farrow guy our Sel’s so cozy with? It turns out he’s a young prodigy from a very famous and legendary family!
Ronan’s Famous Family & Childhood
Ronan, 25, is the sole biological child of famed director Woody Allen and actress Mia Farrow. When his parents split, he became the subject of a well-publicized custody battle in 1992. As a noted child prodigy, Ronan became the youngest student to attend Bard College at Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington, Massachusetts — at age 11! After receiving his AA degree there, he transferred to Bard College in Annandale-on Hudson, New York, where he became the college’s youngest graduate ever at age 15. After graduating, he was accepted to Yale Law School, though he deferred his admission until 2006 to work as an advisor to Richard Holbrooke, a former United States Ambassador to the United Nations, and also to work with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). He is also a Rhodes scholar, meaning he earned a prestigious postgraduate award given to selected foreign students to study at the University of Oxford in England.
His rep told HollywoodLife.com:
“He is a very accomplished young man. In addition to being a journalist and writing for Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and other papers, he recently concluded four years as a senior official in Hillary Clinton’s State Department, during which time he founded the Office of Global Youth Issues and led our response to the Arab Spring revolutions. He departed in order to begin a Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford, where he is writing on a book. Also, yesterday he was voted to Forbes’ 30 Most Influential Under 30 list for the second year running.”
Ronan’s Work With UNICEF
From 2001 to 2009, Ronan worked with UNICEF as a Spokesperson for Youth in Nigeria, Angola, and Sudan. On June 1, 2006, he hosted a summit at the UN headquarters aiming to ensure that children are a part of the global movement for universal access to AIDS prevention and treatment. Between 2004 and 2006, he worked in the Darfur region of Sudan, during which his writings on the region’s conflict appeared in Newsday, the Boston Herald, the International Herald Tribune, and the Wall Street Journal.
His Work With The Obama Administration
Ronan served as a senior foreign policy official in President Barack Obama‘s administration, where he founded the State Department Office of Global Youth Issues. He reported to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as the U.S.’ first Special Adviser for Global Youth Issues during the Arab Spring revolutions.
At just 25 years old, Ronan’s pedigree is quite impressive. He looks quite a good person for Selena to have in her life!
Do you hope Selena dates Ronan, HollywoodLifers?
