‘Gossip Girl’ Series Finale Recap — Chuck & Blair’s Wedding & MORE – Hollywood Life

‘Gossip Girl’ Series Finale: Weddings, Reveals & More OMG Moments

The final episode of 'Gossip Girl' featured Chair's wedding, the return of Little J, and of course, the moment we've waited six seasons for: the unmasking of Gossip Girl! Gossip Girl is dead! On Dec. 17, we said goodbye to our favorite Upper East Siders, and what a finale it was. The episode opened with the discovery of Bart Bass' body, forcing Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair (Leighton Meester) on the run from as Chuck realized he could be implicated in his father's death. And this time, Bart really is dead.

The four biggest OMG moments of the episode:

1) Serena Gets Off The Plane

Serena (Blake Lively) found Dan’s (Penn Badgleynice chapter about her in her bag and decided she couldn’t leave for L.A. until she knew if Dan genuinely loved her. Dan slowly but surely convinced Serena he’s not evil, but will the Brooklyn boy ever really feel like he belongs with Manhattan’s princess?

2) Chuck & Blair Get Married!

Chuck asked Blair to marry him, and it’s really romantic — even if it was the suggestion of the slimy Jack Bass, as he pointed out that Blair would never have to testify against Chuck in court if she was his wife. (Didn’t the Graysons already pull that stunt on Revenge?) Anyway, the whole gang gathered in the Met — where else? — and headed towards Central Park for the wedding. “Chair” exchanged rushed vows just as the police showed up to take Chuck away for questioning. But not without a dramatic kiss first! Luckily for the newlyweds, Chuck was let off from all charges. Hooray!

3) Kristen Bell & Rachel Bilson’s Cameo

Perhaps the funniest part of the night was Kristen Bell and Rachel Bilson‘s cameos, in a scene where Kristen told Rachel she couldn’t play “high school any more,” as they auditioned for the parts of Serena and Blair in Dan’s book adaption. It’s taken six seasons for the voice of Gossip Girl to finally make a cameo on the show, and this was the perfect way for her to do it!

4) The Unmasking of Gossip Girl

And Gossip Girl is… DAN HUMPHREY! Dan gave his notes and research to Nate (Chace Crawford) to publish in The Spectator, but little did Nate know that Dan was actually admitting to his role as the notorious blogger. And the gang was actually OK with it; how unexpected! What happened to their hatred for the anonymous voice that ruined their lives? I really did think Gossip Girl would be Dorota, but Dan was also in my top five picks! All’s well that ends well, I guess.

The Future:

The Gossip Girl series finale also gave us a peek into the future of our favorite Upper East Siders — and the future is looking bright!

Five years later, Chuck and Blair are married with a son, Nate is running for Mayor, Blair is head of Waldorf designs, Georgina is dating Jack Bass (WTF!) and Serena and Dan are getting married. Aww! Jenny and Eric also return, and the only sad part was that Lily and Rufus are no longer together. Boo!

Overall, it was the perfect way to end one of the best shows on television. And as Kristen’s dulcet tones reminded us at the close, Dan may no longer be Gossip Girl, but there will always be an outsider dying to get in.

What do YOU think HollywoodLifers? Did YOU think it was the perfect way to end Gossip Girl? Are you shocked that Dan was Gossip Girl?
