‘Gossip Girl’ Series Finale: Weddings, Reveals & More OMG Moments

The final episode of ‘Gossip Girl’ featured Chair’s wedding, the return of Little J, and of course, the moment we’ve waited six seasons for: the unmasking of Gossip Girl!

Gossip Girl is dead! On Dec. 17, we said goodbye to our favorite Upper East Siders, and what a finale it was. The episode opened with the discovery of Bart Bass’ body, forcing Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair (Leighton Meester) on the run from as Chuck realized he could be implicated in his father’s death. And this time, Bart really is dead.

The four biggest OMG moments of the episode:

1) Serena Gets Off The Plane

Serena (Blake Lively) found Dan’s (Penn Badgleynice chapter about her in her bag and decided she couldn’t leave for L.A. until she knew if Dan genuinely loved her. Dan slowly but surely convinced Serena he’s not evil, but will the Brooklyn boy ever really feel like he belongs with Manhattan’s princess?

2) Chuck & Blair Get Married!

Chuck asked Blair to marry him, and it’s really romantic — even if it was the suggestion of the slimy Jack Bass, as he pointed out that Blair would never have to testify against Chuck in court if she was his wife. (Didn’t the Graysons already pull that stunt on Revenge?) Anyway, the whole gang gathered in the Met — where else? — and headed towards Central Park for the wedding. “Chair” exchanged rushed vows just as the police showed up to take Chuck away for questioning. But not without a dramatic kiss first! Luckily for the newlyweds, Chuck was let off from all charges. Hooray!

3) Kristen Bell & Rachel Bilson’s Cameo

Perhaps the funniest part of the night was Kristen Bell and Rachel Bilson‘s cameos, in a scene where Kristen told Rachel she couldn’t play “high school any more,” as they auditioned for the parts of Serena and Blair in Dan’s book adaption. It’s taken six seasons for the voice of Gossip Girl to finally make a cameo on the show, and this was the perfect way for her to do it!

4) The Unmasking of Gossip Girl

And Gossip Girl is… DAN HUMPHREY! Dan gave his notes and research to Nate (Chace Crawford) to publish in The Spectator, but little did Nate know that Dan was actually admitting to his role as the notorious blogger. And the gang was actually OK with it; how unexpected! What happened to their hatred for the anonymous voice that ruined their lives? I really did think Gossip Girl would be Dorota, but Dan was also in my top five picks! All’s well that ends well, I guess.

The Future:

The Gossip Girl series finale also gave us a peek into the future of our favorite Upper East Siders — and the future is looking bright!

Five years later, Chuck and Blair are married with a son, Nate is running for Mayor, Blair is head of Waldorf designs, Georgina is dating Jack Bass (WTF!) and Serena and Dan are getting married. Aww! Jenny and Eric also return, and the only sad part was that Lily and Rufus are no longer together. Boo!

Overall, it was the perfect way to end one of the best shows on television. And as Kristen’s dulcet tones reminded us at the close, Dan may no longer be Gossip Girl, but there will always be an outsider dying to get in.

What do YOU think HollywoodLifers? Did YOU think it was the perfect way to end Gossip Girl? Are you shocked that Dan was Gossip Girl?

I really thought this was a perfect way to end the show, the writers really delivered on everything they promised. A coworker at DISH and I had been debating the identity of Gossip Girl all season long, but we thought that Dan was unlikely after the last episode. It was nice that the episode really explained why he started it, and after some reflection, it made perfect sense. I was incredibly happy with this finale, so I am really glad that I didn’t miss it with my DISH Hopper. I had it set to automatically record the entire season, with my crazy schedule. I also love that I fast forward through commercials on my recordings, especially because I will likely be re-watching them many times. This show has been an integral part of my Monday’s for six seasons, so it is really sad to see it end. But I am glad that with the end, all of the questions were answered, and that the characters finally got the happy endings they had been striving for.

I did enjoy the episode, and it was lovely. Very sad it was the end, but gossip girl will always be an amazing serie. But i think, that the episode was a bit too rushed with Blair and Chuck getting married (which i am so big af fan of!), and with Dan getting realeved. The episode should have least a bit longer. Then it would have been more perfect. And i just loved the end with the future! Chuck and Blair with a son was just so perfect! And Georgina and jack.. They actually looked pretty sweet together. And Dan being gossip Girl, it makes senses, but i didn’t see it come.

Why didn’t anyone stand up when the bride and groom (Dan and S)made their wedding entrance? Bad form. And where did they go?

Exactly! I’m so confused. First I thought Lilly and Rufus were together again. Then I read this interview of Lisa Loeb explaining she was playing the role of Rufus’s new wife/girlfriend. Shall we understand that kissing on the lips is the new way to say “hello”??

They were not; Rufus was with Lisa Loeb, while Lilly ended up with Serena’s dad. The Baldwin guy.

I can't believe that i'm not seriously more shocked about this.

Everyone, including the real life actors who cameod for the episode, and Blair said it i thought it would Dorota! OMG Dan seriously!? I ruled him out and thought that if it were any Humphrey it’d be Jenny then Rufus. What’s worse is that i’m not all that shocked either. After nate gave that weird look after hearing those girls talk about gossip girl not posting i swear to god i was like don’t tell me it’s Sage, but i knocked that thought out and said it’s Dorota they made it so obvious that we’d say it couldn’t be her because it’s too obvious. Also choosing Dan as gossip girl means that even his s1 and s2 persona was a huge lie. Lonely Boy was not only the master puppeteer of everything (including all the lives subsequent ruined by his actions) but the master con of the entire series. And the fact that everyone including Serena (and the people whose lives were put in legitimately placed in danger because of it ie chuck and Blair )was okay with this…I’m like this is too much.

Lily ended up with William (yuk) and Rufus with real singer/songwriter like him, Lisa Loeb! Lily should have ended up with decent Rufus.
