Adam Lanza’s father, Peter, admits that ‘we too are asking why’ after his 20-year-old son went on a murderous rampage in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday Dec. 14, killing his mother, 26 others and himself.
Peter Lanza, the father of 20-year-old Adam Lanza, who executed his mother in their home and then murdered 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut before killing himself, issued a statement on Saturday Dec. 15.
Adam’s father released this statement: “Our hearts go out to the families and friends who lost loved ones and to all those who were injured. Our family is grieving along with all those who have been affected by this enormous tragedy. No words can truly express how heartbroken we are. We are in a state of disbelief and trying to find whatever answers we can. We too are asking why. We have cooperated fully with law enforcement and will continue to do so. Like so many of you, we are saddened, but struggling to make sense of what has transpired.”
President Obama Will Visit Newtown, Connecticut
President Barack Obama is planning a visit to the town of Newtown on Dec. 16 as the gun control battle heats up. The President will meet with those families affected by the shooting and will also speak at an interfaith vigil for families of the victims as well as families from Sandy Hook Elementary School scheduled for 7PM EST.
On Dec. 14, Obama addressed a shaken and frightened nation, speaking not as a politician, but as a fellow parent. Overcome with his own grief, he had to take a moment to regain his composure and wipe tears from his eyes. “Tonight Michelle and I will do what I know every parent in America will do, we will hug our children a little tighter. And we will tell them that we love them,” he said.
Our thoughts remain with the victims who lost their lives, their suffering families, and the shaken community of Newtown, CT. We can’t imagine what they are feeling.
What do you think of this horrific situation, HollywoodLifers? Will this town ever recover? Will we as a nation?
