A name has been attached to the man who opened fire at a Newtown, Conn., elementary school, killing 27 people.

Twenty-seven people are now dead after a horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., on Dec. 14 — and after officials incorrectly identified Ryan Lanza as the gunman responsible for the senseless killings, the Associated Press reports it was, in fact, Ryan’s younger brother, Adam Lanza that carried out the heinous shooting at the Newtown school.

Adam, 20, died on the scene; officials tell the AP he was killed by a self-inflicted gunshot.

Almost immediately after Ryan Lanza’s name was incorrectly announced on national television, thousands of Facebook users shared what they believed to be his profile picture on their own timelines, attaching comments like “Here’s the piece of s**t shooter” and “This is the guy who killed those kids.”

A Twitter account believed to belong to Ryan also gained more than a thousand followers following the release of Ryan’s name.

More Details on the Tragic Connecticut School Shooting:

Multiple unconfirmed reports claim Adam and Ryan’s mother was a kindergarten teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary School, and that Adam opened fire in her classroom.

Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy addressed the public during a press conference, saying he’s “horrified” at the events that took place in his state. He’s meeting with families to ensure they get information as soon as possible.

Police received a 9-1-1 call from Sandy Hook Elementary School at 9:30 a.m., according to Lt. Paul Vance, after which authorities completed a thorough search of the school and began evacuating students one by one.

Hollywood Responds to News Of Elementary School Massacre:

As is the case with most national tragedies, it didn’t take long for celebrities to start tweeting their horrified reactions to the shooting.

In total shock over the school shooting in Ct!” reality star Kim Kardashian tweeted. “18 children shot dead & 9 adults by a father of one of the kids! What has this world come to?”

“Why does this happen?” asked Miley Cyrus. “Why do bad things happen to such good people… Especially young ones. Sending blessings to CT.”

America has a crazy society with too many guns. its history is filled with wars. it starts in the government and ends up in the streets. america is the best and the worst country. you have the smartest persons and the most ignorant. everybody wants to be headline. more than 15 minutes of fame, people want 15 minutes of importance. they need to feel like they matter. the televisions create ignorance due to political and economic reasons. because an educated and intelligent people its a dangerous one. besides the political reasons, the culture of sex also generates hatred to a big majority of ” fat and ugly people “. they feel less. they feel awckward and displaced. a chauvinistic, raged, wannabe, frustrated and ignorant society packed with so many guns, is an accident waitting to happen

It’s an unimaginable tragedy that a person could open fire on children. Parents were waiting to see if their children survived. In America the blame of a tragic event is almost always blamed on something else instead of the actual person who committed the crime. It’s always some ridiculous reason. People have a choice and the bottom line is if a person chooses to commit a crime then they are solely responsible. Society will say he was crazy and that’s bull. He took the time to load the guns, dress in that attire, and drive to the school. So how can an insane person have that much knowledge and follow thru with their plan? No more excuses and hold the wrong doers accountable!!!!

IF you read the article this is the facebook profile picture that has been shared over the internet by FACEBOOK users (Not the media) and shared over 11,000 times (they are reporting just that!!!!). The media is stating that this is the picture that is out there (NOT that they think it is – reread it)… No one knows who it is, and the person that set up this account did it for fun … there wont be any law suits … lets focus on the real situation here …. 20 kindergarten children are no longer with us ….

it is so terrible nobody is safe anywhere anymore. 18 children… makes me fear for my own children, niece, nephews, etc. that someone just as crazy and damaged will copycat and commit this sensless evil act somewhere else. there is absolutely no excuse for what has happened today. you can’t sit in a movie, walk around the mall, or send your children to school without an unsettling discomfort or fear. this world is getting worse and worse as the days go by and there is no saving it. judgement day is coming all the signs are there and i’m not even religous…. but we all better put the fear of god in our hearts, get right, and brace ourselves.

Who the hell cares about any comment from the kartrashian. More importantly is we the rest of the country send our prayers and luv to everyone who was there including the families of those who lost a loved one. This is the most horrific act ever to happen sice 911, even worse, if at all possible, since innocent children were slaughtered. Yes slaughtered. Unforgivable.
