Three people are dead after a guman wearing a white hockey mask mask fired dozens of shots inside the crowded Clackamas Town Center mall near Portland, Oregon on December 11. Read on for all the details.
Three people, two innocent victims and the alleged gunman, are dead following a horrific shooting rampage in a mall outside of Portland, Oregon. The shooting started at approximately 3:30pm PST. After 90 minutes of terror, the gunman committed suicide and police were able to take control over the situation.
MSN is reporting that witnesses heard the gunman saying, “I am the shooter.” He used a semi-automatic rifle to shoot almost 60 shots into a crowd of people while wearing a white hockey mask and was suspected to be wearing body armor.
Clackamas County Sheriff’s spokesman Lieutenant James Rhodes told reporters at a press conference at approximately 5pm on December 11 that the gunman, who still remains unnamed but has been tentatively identified, killed two innocent people and wounded several others before shooting himself.
“I can confirm the shooter is dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” he said to reporters. He added that he was ”neutralized.”
“For all of us, the mall is supposed to be a place we can all take our families, feel comfortable, this is the holidays … these things are never supposed to happen. We have a young lady at the hospital fighting for her life right now,” Sheriff Craig Roberts said.
One of the wounded is a 15-year-old girl, Kristina, who was admitted to surgery to have bullet fragments removed from her chest.
Eyewitnesses like Kira Rowland spoke to local news affiliate KGW-TV about the scary ordeal. Kira was shopping at Macy’s with her infant son when she first heard the shots.
“All of a sudden you hear two shots, which sounded like balloons popping,” she told the TV station. “Everybody got on the ground. I grabbed the baby from the stroller and got on the ground.”
She added she heard people around her crying and screaming.
“I put the baby back in the stroller and ran,” she said.
There were an estimated 10,000 people in the mall when the shooting occurred.

Police took control AFTER the guy killed himself !?!? Doesn’t speak too highly of the police,now, does it ?? They should have taken control BEFORE the bastard killed himself. What lame men to take control when there is not danger !!! Damn. Two innocent people could have been saved, had the men grew some balls and controlled the situation BEFORE it had gotten out of hand. RIP, two innocent people. The gunman will go to his reward. Damn. could all of this killings and shootings be somehow related to 12/21/12 ?? ( Wooow, HL, there’s a story for ya…)
Methinks that somehow people are panicking over this date and allowing it to scare them,and so they react by flipping out and losing their common sense…
