Colton will first appear in 2013, and of course, his character’s identity remains shrouded in mystery.
Well, that didn’t take long: Just two months after Colton Haynes announced he won’t be returning to MTV’s Teen Wolf for its third season, the actor has been cast on The CW’s Arrow! Per TV Guide Magazine, Colton will play Roy Harper, a love interest for Thea (Willa Holland).
And it sounds like Arrow fans can anticipate quite a bit of Colton in their future, as Roy is “destined to become a significant part of her life and an important player in the larger world of Arrow,” according to the official character description.
It’s still unclear exactly how Roy will be portrayed on Arrow, as he’s gone by several different alter egos — including Red Arrow, Speedy and Arsenal — since he was first introduced by DC Comics in 1941.
“We were big fans of Colton from Teen Wolf and we are thrilled he’s joining Arrow,” executive producer Greg Berlanti tells the mag.
And although creator Jeff Davis is hopeful that we will see Jackson again someday in Beacon Hills, he admitted back in October that major changes had to be implemented to season three following Colton’s departure.
“We’re going to have to move some things around,” he told MTV at New York Comic-Con. “We did have a very good idea for an arc for his character. Who knows, maybe in the future he’ll come back and we’ll get to play that out. For now, we’re going to move forward with a lot more twists and turns.”
How do you feel about Colton joining Arrow? Will you be tuning in to see him, even if you’re not already a fan of the show? And what are your thoughts on a Jackson-less Teen Wolf? Drop me a comment with your take!
