Kristen says she needs people to push her from being too comfortable in a new interview. Is she talking about her boyfriend Robert Pattinson?
Kristen Stewart sat down with PBS talk show host Tavis Smiley to talk about her edgy new role in On The Road. Kristen says that after reading the book in high school, she felt “alive” and wanted to explore and discover. Do you think it’s her relationship with Robert Pattinson that’s allowed her to push her own boundaries?
Kristen’s First ‘On The Road’ Experience
Kristen says that she felt a very rebellious spirit when she first read the book.
“Some people aren’t comfortable being comfortable. They are looking for people to push them. I need people like that. People that rebel. I felt alive. I felt good. I felt like I wanted to discover America.” She even laughed about her “cheesy” answer!
Kristen says the book made her “nostalgic for a time I never lived in. It made me more hungry for experience. It made me realize I don’t want to be so comfy all the time.”
Do you think Rob was the one who brought Kristen out of her shell?
The ‘Twilight’ Phenomenon
Kristen admits she puts up with the madness that comes with the Twilight fandom because, “I really love what I do,” but apologized for the paparazzi which warranted extra security at the studio, saying, “they’re annoying.”
Kristen opened up, admitting it’s hard to have normal relationships being in the public eye.
“As an actor and just as a strange person, I want to be able to stare at people. I don’t want them staring at me. You want to be able to take people in. First impressions are a very different thing now, they don’t exist for me. That is odd.”
Kristen Admits She’s Self-Conscious
Kristen says she often feels uncomfortable because fans just stare at her without saying anything!
“It’s your attitude, it’s your perspective but sometimes I have to kick myself and go, they’re not laughing at you. They’re just smiling, but naturally, you look around and it’s like you’re back in school or something. People look over and it’s strange for them, I don’t know what it is. It’s a lot of laughter. I’m like, everyone is laughing at me. Literally, everyone is laughing. I feel like I’m in third grade or something.”
Kristen also said that she is happy she started acting young, since things would be different if she had started acting at a later age.
“I am really glad I started when I was 9 or 10. It was good I started young and unselfconscious.”
