Robert Pattinson may not have attended Kristen Stewart‘s most recent screening for On The Road, but he had a good reason!
Rob, 26, wanted to let 22-year-old Kristen’s performance speak for itself, an insider who was at the screening tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
“Rob and Kristen have been hoping to take the focus off of their relationship and put it on the movies,” our eyewitness said. “It’s important to Kristen to not have relationship drama following her all of the time. They’re moving away from Twilight and onto different projects, and even though he WANTED to be there, it was better for him to lay low.”
And even though Rob wasn’t physically there, K-Stew still had fun on her big night.
“Kristen had a great time with the cast,” our source said. “And her relationship with Rob is still strong — they’re young and in love.”
Kristen recently spoke to The Huffington Post about the challenge of playing a strong female character in the movie.
“People do love to say that this is a boy book and that the female characters tend to be treated as play things and are peripheral,” she said. “When you read the book, they tend to seem as though they’re almost like a tool for [author Jack] Kerouac to show that life’s crazy, that things are wild and sexy. That’s why, playing the part, we were privy to information that made this thing so different. I think getting to know the women behind the characters and getting to know Jack’s relationships with them and Neal’s relationships with them, it made it easier to play the character.”
