UPDATE -I saw Playing For Keeps. The movie has its flaws but is much better than most critics are giving it credit for. Mr Butler gave one of the most emotionally nuanced performances of his career and Mae is right about the shirtless scene. I repeat her question. Did you actually see the movie?

Gerry is shirtless in one brief scene which goes by in about 2 seconds, not on the field at all. I’m wondering if you even saw the movie?

Thanks for this! I’ve been interested in seeing Playing For Keeps since I saw the trailer, but this is one of the only positive posts about it I’ve come across. A couple of my DISH co-workers invited me to go see it with them this weekend, but I think I’d rather not spend the money right now. I’m planning to add it to my Blockbuster @ Home queue instead, since I have that through my DISH account. That way it’ll just show up in my mailbox once it’s out on DVD and I won’t have to go out of my way to seek it out. Plus, when I’m done watching it, I can return it to the Blockbuster store down the street from my apartment for another movie in my queue. Everything about it is so convenient.

That’s all you had to say about Gerard Butler’s role? He takes his shirt off? Not that anyone objects to shirtless Gerry but, according to some critics, he also gave one of the most sensitive, well rounded performances of his career so far.
