Find out who went home in the not-so-shocking double elimination, and who made it to the semi-finals next week!
The Dec. 6 episode of The X Factor kicked off with a performance from last year’s winner Melanie Amaro, in an attempt to become relevant again. CeCe Frey was then quickly eliminated, which surprised… well, no one. Sorry, but it was definitely time for her and her leopard paint to be sent packing.
As for the bottom two acts, that wasn’t very surprising either. Although 13-year-old Diamond White is super talented, she sang a shaky, whiny version of “I Hope You Dance.” Meanwhile, the girls of Fifth Harmony had their best performance to date with Mariah Carey‘s “Anytime You Need A Friend.”
Even as a fan of them, I was blown away by their harmonies. (Yes L.A. Reid, there were harmonies!) In the end, the judges, aside from mentor Britney Spears, voted Diamond out.
Here’s how the rest of the acts ranked according to viewer votes:
1. Tate Stevens
2. Carly Rose Sonenclar
3. Emblem3
4. Fifth Harmony
What do you think of the results, HollywoodLifers? Did CeCe and Diamond deserve to be sent home? Were you surprised by the rankings? Drop me a comment and let me know!

Couldn’t agree more. Tate may need the win more, but Carly is the real deal. Emblem 3 should have gone home, but I’m not really surprised at how the vote turned out. It doesn’t matter that much anyway. Simon is delusional if he thinks one of his groups will win. I’ve said all along that Carly should win, but after tonight’s results, Tate might just take this thing. Obviously, there are a lot of country music fans out there who will vote for a country artist no matter how average they are. And, of course, Tate continues to get the sentimental vote. If only we could get people to vote with their heads instead of their hearts! But don’t worry Carly; you’ve got a great career ahead of you. Actually, it might be better for Carly to lose to Tate. This would take Tate away from a job he hates and give Carly a chance to grow a bit more and make the kind of album she wants to make instead of the garbage she will be forced to make if she wins.Hopefully, however this turns out, Carly will stay true to herself and not succumb to the industry giants who would force her to put out more of the same garbage that clutters the music scene so much now that it makes listening to the radio painful. I would love to see Carly mature and go with an independent label since she has the talent to make good quality music instead of the drivel which dominates the airwaves. I doubt this will happen, but one can only hope.

LA (Reid) was really asleep at the wheel when he was asked how he thought Tate would do in the ranking this week. He said Tate would probably be in the top 3. Of course he’s in the top 3! There were only four slots left after Fifth Harmony won the vote-off and took the bottom slot, which means EVERY remaining act was in the top 3.

I’m okay with Tate winning, even though Carly Rose is technically more talented. The reason is that she’s already so experienced that she’ll probably do okay even without the prize. Someone will find her. She’s golden. Tate, on the other hand, is just an ordinary person who’s getting an opportunity he wouldn’t have had before, which seems more in the spirit of the show.

I understand why you feel this way and I don’t completely disagree with you, however, this is a competition and no matter what your feelings are about the contestants, shouldn’t the person or act who is best win? In a legitimate competition, it isn’t always who needs to win most but who is actually the best. Yes, my heart goes out to Tate, but Carly is by far the best singer in this competition and for this reason alone she deserves to win. I wish Tate was better so I could vote for him but that just isn’t the case. Do the right thing. Vote for Carly.

The Pepsi and Sony product placement is so blatant and shameless. How stupid do they think people are? Oh, right, this is a semi-fake, semi-scripted, over-edited reality-TV show. The producers figure there’s a good chance that everyone watching is pretty stupid (and apparently the people at Pepsi and Sony think the same). Pepsi and Sony should be boycotted for such behavior.

The only thing more ridiculous than CeCe still having those leopard spots on her face was Demi having them on her own face. I’m really beginning to question Demi’s sanity when she bonds with and promotes the mediocre singing of the most hated contestant on a reality-TV show. Demi did have fans before she came on “X Factor”. I wonder how many are left.

Carly Rose Sonenclar is a professional Broadway singer. The other girls in her category also had previous experience in the show business, but neither of them had the extensive SINGING background and training that Carly has (Beatrice mainly dubs movies and Diamond was only in one or two musicals compared to Carly’s four or five + TV show). No wonder she sounds so good and polished. She didn’t need to be on this show in the first place, and she certainly doesn’t need to win. If she does win, she will be as forgettable as Melanie (another girl with great vocals and even more raw talent since she never did Broadway, but zero stage presence or personality). At least Melanie is old enough to appeal to wider demographics. Teenagers don’t care for Carly’s vocal acrobatics or dull personality, and most adults don’t care for teen stars. She will only appeal to the older women who buy Jackie Evancho.
