Cousins Lyric Cook, 11, and Elizabeth Collins, 9, who were last seen riding their bikes together on July 13, were found dead on Dec. 5 in a wooded area. Such a tragedy.
The parents of Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins — who spent five agonizing months wondering what happened to their little girls after they disappeared in the summer — have spoken out about the devastating turn of events after the cousins were found dead on Dec. 5.
‘This was (not) the outcome we wanted but we know that they are up in Heaven with our Savior and our nightmare of where they are and what is happening to them has been answered,” Elizabeth’s mom Heather Collins wrote on her Facebook page.
Lyric, 11, and Elizabeth, 9, were last seen leaving on their bikes after leaving grandma’s house on July 13. They promised to only be gone for a couple house — but they never returned.
Captain Abben, who has been leading the investigation since the first day of their disappearance, also expressed how difficult the outcome has been for law enforcement.
“It is definitely not the outcome we wanted. Numerous officers from many, many jurisdictions have worked on this case around the clock since the 13th of July, when we were notified of this,” he said.
The girls were found on day 145 of their disappearance. The wooded area where their bodies were found is still being investigated, and their bodies have been sent to a medical examiners office for autopsies.
Such a tragedy, and we hope the families find peace. What do YOU think of the case HollyMoms?
