At just age 20, the ‘New Girl’ lands herself on another cover of ‘Vogue’. Doesn’t she look beautiful?
Despite being dissed by Victoria’s Secret for having “the kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy,” there was a specific reason why Kate Upton was chosen British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman for their January 2013 cover!
Alexandra explained, “When I decided to shoot Kate for our first cover of 2013, it was to kick off the year with a young women who is not a stereotypical fashion model – although, let’s face it, she’s hardly a heffalump!”
Kate never wants to embrace the “super-skinny, high-fashion look.” In this shoot, she resembles the All-American models from the ’70s and ’80s with full figures, natural hair, and minimal makeup. The tight, white, body-con dress she wore displayed her infamous curvy figure.
It’s not common to see a swimwear model who is used to showing off her curves make the transition to front a magazine like Vogue, where the models are normally super thin and without curves– and for that, we commend her.
You can find Kate on the cover of the 2013 January issue where she continues to be an inspiration for women who embrace their thicker figures. As she told US Vogue back in June, “You have to be confident, and that doesn’t mean starving yourself.”
