Were you as blown away as I was by Carly Rose Sonenclar’s version of Justin Bieber’s ‘As Long As You Love Me?’ It proved she HAS the X Factor and can be a huge star!

Carly Rose Sonenclar had an enormous bar to climb over last night, Dec. 5, when she had to sing Justin Bieber‘s “As Long As You Love Me.”
First of all, Justin already does a brilliant job singing the love song. Second, could she really make it her own when it was so closely identified with Justin. Could she give it new depth without overdoing it?

The answer was a resounding yes, yes, yes! She made “As Long As You Love Me” sound like a whole new song that was deeply soulful and riveting.

Plus, Carly Rose has even more vocal range than Justin. In fact, she has a HUGE soaring range.

Did Demi Lovato diss Justin Bieber?

The judges were unanimously blown away. “I love it when I hear the unplugged versions of songs that are actually better than the original. You sang that song even better than Justin Bieber,” enthused Demi Lovato.

Simon Cowell told Carly Rose that she did “an amazing job” and that she was one of the reasons he was glad he came to America. LA Reid was impressed with what she had accomplished while singing so purely.

He told Carly Rose that she owned the tone without resorting to “vocal acrobatics,” and Britney Spears pointed out a key reason that Carly Rose has the X Factor — “each week you make each song your own.”

And Carly Rose does. She’s just 13, but she has such a depth and maturity in her voice and in her interpretation of each song that she makes everything she sings sound totally unique.

Is Carly Rose the next Adele?

I’m haunted by her version of “As Long As You Love Me.” And I’m convinced that she can become a huge star given the right material.

But she’s not a cream puff pop princess. We’re talking the next Adele, Alanis Morissette, or Fiona Apple.

Tonight, we’ll learn that she hopefully has made it into the semi-finals. Let’s hope so, because she should be the winner! Do you agree, HollywoodLifers? Tell me now.

This whole article is ridiculous. Not to take away from Carly’s voice, but ANYBODY can sing better than Justin Bieber — even my dog! Carly will win because the show is scripted and totally biased in her favor. She’s good (especially for 13) but is a Broadway veteran with tons of vocal training. Given her resume, it would be a shocker if she couldn’t sing. At 13, she can’t be the next Adele, Alanis or Fiona. Not sure how they’ll market her, but she’ll probably end up being just a Jackie Evancho type of singer — she won’t sing opera, but show tunes and torch ballads. Yawn.

I think Carly Rose should win. I like Tate, but I love Carly. She does indeed have a very soulful voice. I think she has an “old soul”. It’s amazing that she has such talent and such a voice at such a young age. I’m looking forward to watching her develop as an artist and watching her career take off. I know it will. I really hope Carly wins!!
