[VIDEO] Melanie Martinez Eliminated On ‘The Voice’ — Should’ve Made Top 4 – Hollywood Life

‘The Voice’s Melanie Martinez Should Have Made The Top 4

America voted to send Melanie home last night on 'The Voice,' keeping the adorable singer out of the top four, but I think it was a giant mistake! Read on for my reasons why and let me know if you agree! The Voice has had its share of surprising eliminations this season, but none of them were more shocking or unfair than Melanie Martinez's cut from the competition on the Dec. 4 results show! The youngest and most artistic of the challengers should have made it further!

From the minute Melanie hit the stage for her blind audition back in September, it was clear that she was something special. Performing Britney Spears‘ “Toxic” in a way that no one ever has before, the 17-year-old made her mark on the competition. The way she turned the hit song on its head, performing it as a smoky, jazzy torch burner was so inventive.

And her artistic ambition was only fostered further by coach Adam Levine, allowing for a slew of adventurous performances on songs as varied as “Hit The Road Jack,” “Seven Nation Army,” and last night’s gorgeous duet with Nicholas David to Fiona Apple‘s “Criminal”. Melanie was the only artist in the competition this season who seemed to have a true vision, which is all the more impressive when you consider her young age.

America robbed Melanie of the opportunity to advance further in the competition last night, which seemed especially cruel after Christina Aguilera was so rude to her on Monday’s performance show, but I have no doubt that, with a little help from mentor Adam, she will be presenting us with something fresh, exciting, and wholly her own in the near future.

Do you think Melanie was unfairly eliminated last night, HollywoodLifers?
