Christina Aguilera's Rude Diss To 'Voice' Contestant Melanie Martinez

Fans are outraged after Christina attacked Melanie during her critique. Do YOU think Christina was out of line?

Melanie Martinez was left shaken after the Dec. 3 episode of The Voice, as renowned diva Christina Aguilera told Melanie off for not paying attention during her critique. Not cool, Christina!

Adam Levine chose “The Show” by Lenka for Melanie to sing, and she gave a cute performance. Then the judges gave their feedback, which was relatively lukewarm. Blake Shelton noted that it was “definitely different,” while Adam enjoyed the youthfulness of her performance. As for Christina…

While she was critiquing Melanie’s performance, Melanie looked mildly distracted for a brief moment, which prompted Christina to say, “Well, she’s not even looking at me… It’s OK!” followed by a passive aggressive laugh.

That’s not nice, Christina! You were once a fresh-faced newbie trying to make it too!

Fans have taken to Twitter to express their upset, as one Twitter user called @taymalay said “Why is Christina so mean toMelanie? Jealousy?” Another user said “Christina Aguilera was rude last night to Melanie….” We hope Christina learns from this, and is nicer next week!

I don’t know why people r saying Christina was jealous. Jealous of wat melanie has an ugly voice it sounds like she barely talking or something I don’t know wats wrong with her voice. I don’t think Christina was being rude

Melanie doesn’t have an “ugly voice”. It’s definitely different and some people like me really enjoy it. You don’t have to be a fan, but when you just comment something like that, it’s rather insensitive and rude. Secondly, it doesn’t matter how good or bad your singing is. You could be the worst singer ever, and that still does not give the judges the right to act rudely as Christina did. Maybe Christina wasn’t jealous, but she shouldn’t have acted that way to Melanie.

I know the 3rd season is over but i Just want to say Christins Aguilera was jealous from the very beginning. she is a fat has been and her style Of singing is out Just like her! Melanie Martínez is unique, fresh sounds and most important YOUNG which sucks for Christina cause she’s not! I agree with Sherry. I used to like Christina until she treated her like a 5 year old on national TV. I lost respect for Christina. She should’ve been more professional. I hope Melanie makes it BIG! I would buy her music because she’s different. Christina only likes people that imitate her.

Christina had her own opinions and perception of Melanie Martinez’s attitude on the show as a whole and she allowed that opinion to grow into an obvious resentment which she could not hide. Christina speaks of professionalism and she displayed none toward this young teen and she should be ashamed of herself looking back at her behavior.

Christina A. has a very forgettable voice. Martinez is everything Christina A. will never be: Original; doesn’t have to use her sexuality to cover for a lack of real talent; a Star. I am a huge Melanie Martinez fan and I could feel through the television how much Christina despised this talented young lady.

Christina was totally rude. She was disinterested. Jealousy would be my guess. I suppose it’s just differents of opinion. I would much sooner listen to Melanie than Christina anyway, so there you go. What a voice that girl had. Someone’s going to take note soon!

The voice is my favorite show…though a lot of things that Christina Aguilera says, or, maybe more specifically, the way she says them really bother me – like to Melanie Martinez “she’s not even looking at me” comment. After her previous comments to Melanie, I can think of no reason Melanie should feel the need or desire to look at Christina – I know I wouldn’t. Her expectation that Melanie do so sort of felt like the conceited demand of a spoiled diva, which is exactly what I think Aguilera is.

I think Melanie was looking at Adam while Xtina was giving everyone but Melanie credit for staging when Adam had always stated how involved Melanie was in these things so Xtina was dissing her the minute she started speaking. So I am boycotting all songs on Xtina’s Lotus album. Won’t buy any of those songs. I will vote with my dollars. Really rude of Xtina who really needs to get over herself.

Every time Christina had the opportunity to give Melanie feedback, she started commenting on the fabulous staging. It felt like a discredit to Melanie every time. I don’t blame Melanie for checking out. I was thorougly annoyed with Christina.

I completely agree and made the same observation elsewhere. I’d have started tuning Christina out as well. Who needs that kind of negativity? Best to ignore it as much as possible once you know not to expect constructive criticism.

Why does Christina want everyone to sound like already existing artists? The best thing about Melanie is that she doesn’t sound like anyone else and has a style that is so unique as to be undefineable.
