Damon & Elena’s latest obstacle seems insurmountable, but Julie Plec says they’ll just ‘have to figure out how to get around it.’
The Nov. 29 episode of The Vampire Diaries may have ended on a peculiar note — just as Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) finally had sex, we learned she’s been sire-bonded to him — but fear not, there’s good news for fans! Well, there’s good news for Delena fans, at least. Executive producer Julie Plec tells Zap2it “there is more hope than ever” for the blood-lusty couple, even if their relationship is indefinitely more complicated.
Julie tells the site that even though Elena has finally given Damon the “love and acceptance” he’s searched for his entire life, he will begin to question how much of that is due to the sire bond, just as many fans — myself included — feared at the end of the episode. And for the record, Elena does believe her feelings are real.
“There’s that nagging doubt, as to how much of it is true love and how much is the effects of a sire bond,” she admits. “It’s a question that’s going to take these two people who do care about each other so deeply, and just put the tiniest bit of an obstacle in their path. They have to figure out how to get around it.”
As for Stefan (Paul Wesley), Julie admits “he might actually be right, that this is not who she is and this is not who she’s supposed to be, so his desire is to try to correct that at all costs.”
She also says Elena and Damon’s sire story has been in the works for a while — ever since Tyler (Michael Trevino) and Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) sire story was introduced, in fact — and that it was a “natural conclusion” for Damon to be the one to bond her.

Elena and Damon need their time…. a time where they can do everything together ad not be hated by everyone. Let Stephen have a new female interest and give Elena and Damon their romance of true love. Besides, Damon did meet her first. Klaus is great but needs to finally realize he needs true friends. Bring Elijah back. In a good way. How about a wedding for Elena and Damon. NOW THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING.

I’m team delena all the way from the start I love them together it makes me happy to see them making each other happy.and yeah I agree with the person who said that about caroline how come when she is turned bye damon and she has his blood in him how come she’s not sire to him as well I think that’s a load of crap bc how are they going to do that to delena and caroline I just don’t understand that but I just hope that everything works out for the best with them bc they are so amazing togther

In the episode that witch in new orleans mentioned that sire bond only happens if you have feelings before you become a vampire for the vampire that turned you so caroline didnt have feelings for him anymore when she got turned, thats right i think?

@Tia Just to clear things up when Damon killed Jeremy, he did it in the spur of the moment n after that happened, Damon was very very regretful n he did everything for forgivness n redemption. He loves Elena n has started loving n caring for all her friends which is evident by the number of times he has saved them. Stefan’s reasons for putting Jeremy’s life on line are driven by selfishness because he wants to change Elena since he can’t love her like this n he wants the Elena that he loved back. He is treating her like a problem that needs to get ‘fixed’. He is not the least bit apologetic or regretful.
Just another fact, DE will last the whole show n will be endgame. Its a very bumpy road n DE will have to go through alot of obstacles but that’s what makes them epic n it shows how much the writers r invested in DE.

U SE fans take every oppurtunity to speak badly of Damon yet when Stefan rips apart hundreds of people n sleeps with hundreds of girls, you guys turn a blind eye, yeah! because Stefan is such a freakin’ angel. Damon had no idea Isobel was Elena’s mom when he turned her, are u even watching the show. And might I add that a majority of TVD fans love n adore Damon, not because he is hot, but because of his selflessness, his unconditional love for Elena n the countless sacrifices for everyone. Stefan is such a selfish person, he is willingly putting Jeremy’s life on risk to find the cure for Elena, because he just can’t accept Elena like this because he only loves her for humanity whereas Damon loves Elena regardless of everything. Damon came up with idea to find a new hunter so that Jeremy wouldn’t get hurt. And u r kidding urself if u think the hype is over, the best is yet to come. DE has just started n this ‘sire bond’ is only an obstacle that is going to make them stronger n closer

@anum. When I said the hype is over, I meant the hype about the first time sex is over. For Pete’s sake I’m not a member of the DE hate club or anything. After three seasons of SE, it really doesn’t matter who Elena is with now, to me. Lastly, Damon killed Jeremy once, intentionally. I do watch the show. As for DE fans, enjoy it while it lasts. No pun intended.

All the hype about the DE sex scene is finally over! I must say it wasn’t as good as what the DE fans were expecting it to be. I am so glad that its over. With or without Elena, Stefan is HOT. I wonder why Julie Plec doesn’t use him really well. Hands down, he’s got a better body than Damon’s. TVD fans would love to see more of him, doesn’t really matter who Elena is sleeping with. As for Damon, way to go dude. Slept with mother, daughter and countless others.

Their connection has always been there. Damon has always been able to sense Elena’s presence. In different episodes this bond can be seen just to name a few:Season 1, Ep.7, Ep.13, Season 2, Ep. 22, not only do we feel their emotional connection there seems to be a stronger bond pulling at them. I don’t think I like the sire bond idea, however, if it creates a stronger bond between them then I’m for it. Stephan’s emotions have been a bit topsy turvy lately about Elena. I think he is being selfish. People change, grow, and move on. Even though it has taken Elena to become a vampire to make a change. Her feelings for Damon were stronger in the end, because she trusted him more than Stephan, and she began to develop feelings for him. So as a vampire these were heightened, this to me would make more sense. I look forward to see how everything pans out.

i hope they stay together!!! their characters seem stonger and more intense than ever before. i think damon is helping elana work through her problems being a vampire and cope than stephan as if he trying to shelter her to hide behind him. she has to learn how to be a vampire now not expect someone to be their to catch her when she falls.

what they should do is bring katherine back in to help stefan with the human blood thing, that gives them a connection and will show that he really loved her all along, not elena and it will allow damon and elena to be together without damon feeling bad for stefan

This thing is utter crap. Does anyone remember that Caroline also got turned into a vampire because she had Damon’s blood in her system? Then how come she isn’t sire bonded to him? Crap, I tell you.
Anyway, I am glad I stopped watching this show. I just keep checking on Elena and Damon’s progression and it still seems like a wastage of time. I spent endless hours and so much energy on this couple for whole three seasons. I’ve been cheated time and again and now I can’t even get over this.

I waited for Damon and Elena since 2/3 seasons and It happens in this circumstances ? We don’t even know what’s gonna happen next for them both! And as a Delena fan it isn’t how I expected or hoped their relationship go! This sire bond thing killed all the happiness I should have when DEx happened! They say that when the sire bond will go then It’s gonna be an awkward situation for Damon and Elena ! I don’t want the music keeps repeating over and over ! ok, so as a Damon and Elena fan i was angry about the whole sire bond crap, but if you really think about it, the bond shouldn’t affect how Elena feels for Damon. he may have this “power” over her, but it doesn’t have anything to do with her feeling for him. everything Stefan and Caroline said were correct, the sire bond is the reason for Elena not being able to feed from anything but a human. But Damon has never told her to love him, those feeling are genuine, not the result of a sire bond.
Also, id like to add that i feel that Damon and Elena are best for each other. They are the ying and yang. They balance each other out. He brings out another side to her and she brings out the best from him.
Stefan should end up with Kathrine. He makes her want to be a better “vampire”, and he needs some crazy fun in his life. I do think Kathrine’s feelings for Stefan are true.
As far and the Klaus and Caroline thing, i didn’t like it at first, but after the last ep, i changed my mind. They complement each other. She makes him likeable. And he makes her tolerable, less whiny.

Amina seems to have said it all. I agree with her. I do have to admit though that if they don’t finally give Damon his love interest with Elena, I will start recording the show so I can fast forward through a lot of it. I am getting rather bored with boring Stefan and his attitude with Damon when Damon has only had Stefan interest at heart. He would never do anhything to hurt his brother, but Stefan doesn’t care if he hurts Damon. Elena comes alive around Damon and together there is electricity in the air. Bring the ripper back in Stefan. He was exciting and interesting back then. Let snobby Damon hating Caroline have a relationship with Klaus so she can get off Damon’s back and leave him and Elena alone. Find a love interest for Matt. The writers need to get Stefan and Damon searching for a cure for Jeramy, but leave Elena and Damon alone.

i agree with rhonda o some points! we have been waitin for four seasons for damon and elena to get together and we couldnt have one episode where they are together without something else getting in the way such as the sire bond! but i’m too religious with tvd to ever stop watching it mostly becuz of damon! Stefan and elena have had their chance since episode 1 and now i jus think its time for elena and damon to get together! most of the fans have been waiting for this for a veeerrryyy long time! evn though the sire storyline is good, damon and elena DEFINITELY have to find a way around it cuz if she then gets back together with stefan i am soooo not watchin it nymre! plus i want tyler and hayley, caroline and klaus and stefan and katherine to get together! i love the jeremy storyline tho! concluding… DEELLLLEEEENNNAAAA ALL THE WAY

I’m just done, honestly. I’m a Delena fan, but sick of the whole thing now. They couldn’t even give us an uninterrupted love scene between the two of them after waiting years for that moment. not even a chance tk enjoy it before Damon is cast as the villain again. I walked away feeling cheated. I won’t watch anymore.
Tired of the whole thing honestly….
I know a lot if people who say “I used to watch TVD”. Now I see why and I’ve become one of them.

NO! Team Delena! Damon and Elena forever! <3 As a vampire your feelings are heightened so Elena always has loved Damon more as was just fighting it. Stefan may want to let Elena be human again because she never wanted it, but he is definitely also doing it because of Elena's attraction to Damon. Julie please let us Delena fans have more Damon and Elena have more sweet romance like the dancing and hot sexy scenes. As you can see Elena(nina) and Damon(ian) have more chemistry.
