Damon & Elena’s latest obstacle seems insurmountable, but Julie Plec says they’ll just ‘have to figure out how to get around it.’
The Nov. 29 episode of The Vampire Diaries may have ended on a peculiar note — just as Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) finally had sex, we learned she’s been sire-bonded to him — but fear not, there’s good news for fans! Well, there’s good news for Delena fans, at least. Executive producer Julie Plec tells Zap2it “there is more hope than ever” for the blood-lusty couple, even if their relationship is indefinitely more complicated.
Julie tells the site that even though Elena has finally given Damon the “love and acceptance” he’s searched for his entire life, he will begin to question how much of that is due to the sire bond, just as many fans — myself included — feared at the end of the episode. And for the record, Elena does believe her feelings are real.
“There’s that nagging doubt, as to how much of it is true love and how much is the effects of a sire bond,” she admits. “It’s a question that’s going to take these two people who do care about each other so deeply, and just put the tiniest bit of an obstacle in their path. They have to figure out how to get around it.”
As for Stefan (Paul Wesley), Julie admits “he might actually be right, that this is not who she is and this is not who she’s supposed to be, so his desire is to try to correct that at all costs.”
She also says Elena and Damon’s sire story has been in the works for a while — ever since Tyler (Michael Trevino) and Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) sire story was introduced, in fact — and that it was a “natural conclusion” for Damon to be the one to bond her.

No! I beg you Julie Plec. Please don’t make a love story between Damon and Elena. If I recall correctly, she is only in love with him because she is sired to him. If she were a vampire without his blood, she would still love Stefan, as she loved him before. It is gross and disgusting for Elena and Damon to be together. Stefan does not want the cure because she is a vampire and he won’t love her as vampire, he is doing this because this is never what she ever wanted! Remember in season 2 episode 22 (i think); Elena told him “I never wanted to be a vampire.” So he is doing this for her- he does not mind Elena and Damon together- remember, he was the one who broke up with her! Delena fans only want Elena and Damon to be together because they do “you know what scenes” (sigh.) So when it all come to the end, Stefan will always be there for her and help her through her struggles. And BTW, again as mentioned Elena loves Damon because of BOND! I am sure it is not her real feelings for him!

I am so for Damon and Elena! Stephan isn’t right for her. He always does what he thinks is best for her but its only what he wants. Damon does what he knows she needs, regardless if she agrees or if it will benefit him at all. I really hope that the sire bond doesn’t affect love or sex, just obedience or something because Elena and Damon are perfect for one another. Also, stephan reminds me of Edward Cullen… C’mon, admit it they are a lot alike. Damon is hot and spicy and AHHH he’s amazing. So yeah I’m gonna be really disappointed if Elena breaks Damon’s heart, i might even stop watching :x

I never listen to JP interviews concerning DE because she is all about SE and their epic love. We now know an epic love is letting your love die, when you are a vampire with superstrength and could have pulled both to safety. ALL I got from the episode was that the sire bond is an excuse for S/C because S is obviously so selfabsorbed and it’s always about him him him. There’s no way he can love vamp E, he already admitted that. As far as I know it’s just that an excuse for him to justify her feelings for D when he has NO IDEA how real they are. She admitted to matt before she became a vamp, her feelings and how he just consumed her! Also nowhere has it been said sire bonds cause romantic feelings/ sexual tension. This is just another bump in the road for DE, because Stefan is going to put it into Damon’s head it was never real, when we all know it was/is. Stay strong fellow de fans!!

Sad isnt powerful to say how I feel. I loved the episode but the end with the sired story hurt so much. Its like Julie says that Damon can only be loved when she is sired. He deserves better Miss Plec, without Damon your show is nothing. See the rates. Its more than good, even stelena fans dont watched.

That doesn’t even make sense Delena better be together because it they’re not I’m so sick with Vampire Diaries come on Stelena had there chance. it’s not fair they’re taking it away from us we should get a chance to see Delena love on screen we have been loyal fans even when she,was with Stefan now when you gives us Delena you ruin it.She better end up with Damon.

Amber definately has a point. Give Damon and Elena a chance. We should at least get 2 or three seasons out of the series. We have waited so long. I hope the writers don’t have her going back to boring Stefan again. Damon said it in last nights show. He said he has never seen Elena “more alive” after she told him Stefan wants to change her and Caroline hates who she became. My friends and I think the show is more exciting with Damon as the love interest (even the ones that want to see her with Stefan). They tell me the show is not just more exciting but it’s like electric in the air around them. Please Julie, don’t take this away from us. If you do it will be the same old boring stuff. thank you for the Klaus and Carolina interaction. It was great. We loved it. Please keep it up. Carolina and Tylor are so over and boring. More Klaus please.

actually its real her love for Damon is real …being sired just means that she will do and accept everything damon says…but her feeling are so true and real :) remember 3X19 they almost had sex but Jeremy came along..so its obvious she loved him back then too…I think the sire thing is just another + in their relationship :)

Slightly less disappointed, but not by much. Why can’t they just be in love without something supernatural getting in the way? I think Stephan still in love with her, Caroline hating their relationship, Jeremy being a hunter and wanting to killer her, Bonnie’s screwed up magic, and creepy professor Shane are enough conflicts, thank you very much. This just seems like overkill.
