David gives HollywoodLife.com his perspective on Shane’s intentions and teases serious drama with Bonnie & Jeremy.

“Good” and “evil” are relative terms on The Vampire Diaries, and Mystic Falls’ newest resident Professor Shane (David Alpay) knows all-too-well what it’s like to exist in that gray area. In fact, he could literally teach a course on it. “The funny thing about this show is that even someone like Klaus, who’s seemingly so evil, does the things he does for a reason,” David tells HollywoodLife.com. ”I don’t even know if Shane is evil, to be honest.”

“It’s a little ambiguous; we’re not really sure, and I think that’s a big credit to the writing, which is getting more sophisticated as the seasons go by,” David continues. “The audience is demanding it. They want something more than just what you might see in a vampire movie, which lasts an hour and a half.”

(Suck on that, Twilight!)

That said, Shane is definitely someone who shouldn’t be underestimated, particularly by struggling-witch Bonnie (Kat Graham) and fledgling-hunter Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen).

“Shane, at this point, knows Bonnie and Damon have a hunter,” David explains. “He doesn’t know who it is, but he pieces that much together. He’s incredibly smart; he’s spent his entire life studying the occult.”

Though he can’t give away too much about tonight’s episode, “My Brother’s Keeper,” he does confirm a bit of a confrontation between Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Shane. He also notes that Ian’s “suspicious” eyes are mesmerizing.

But that’s not really news.

He’s hot but is previous episode he told Bonnie to do practice something which is worst then dark magic.

i keep having the same feeling donna.i keep thinking,that soon all will be out of the bottle.i hope shane is not evil eventually;and if he is i will love to see how he will be captured and exposed.

I think he might be a bit of both evil and good, just like Damon and sides of Klaus. I just hope the story writers will delve more into Shane’s side and for longer. Over the seasons we have lost too many good characters Lexi, Alaric, albeit at least Alaric did have a couple seasons, so his death made it more sad and interesting to the show. You get involved in characters lives, and then in Lexi’s case just a few episodes they are wiped out! Grrrr! I know they have to kill off characters since this show involves the demise of others or it would not exist. I’m hoping the writers don’t let me down again with a new character like Shane coming aboard (good or evil) and let us not see both sides (If there is one) or what makes him this way. In essence, give us the courtesy to expand past every season of Damon/Stephan/Elena. Which I still love, but without the others, the show can’t be carried on season after season with just them and the love triangle!

How can they always be so naive and trusting, they’re vampires & witches and with Jeremy becoming a hunter they should really not be so trusting.

I like Shane he is geek hot and very smart Him and Bonnie have great Chem and would make a good pairing BUT Shane is very Shady and what is he teaching Bonnie and how will it Help, Hurt and Change her
