To raise awareness for the 1 in 6 Americans facing hunger, and to provide relief to New Yorkers still struggling after Hurricane Sandy, 50 Cent, music mogul and entrepreneur, was “Going Home For Hunger” Nov. 21 in support of Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief charity, and Food Bank For New York City.
50 Cent served Thanksgiving meals to New Yorkers struggling with hunger, and to those without the means to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal due to Hurricane Sandy, at the “Our Table is Yours” event hosted by the Food Network, Cooking Channel, and Southern Wine & Spirits of America, benefitting Food Bank For New York City. What a great gesture for the holiday season!
Growing up in the South Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, NY, and raised by his grandparents after the death of his mother, 50 Cent encountered many obstacles as a child. He has seen the effects of poverty firsthand, similar to 1 in 6 people facing hunger in the United States, including more than 1 million New Yorkers.
50 Cent is a member of the Feeding America Entertainment Council and frequently volunteers at area food banks. He also supports Feeding America through his audio brand, SMS Audio. Each online purchase of SYNC by 50 or STREET by 50 in the United States via SMSAudio.com helps provide 250 meals to those facing hunger.
So HollywoodLifers, If you have a chance to do your part in helping those fight hunger, 50 Cent has given quite an amazing option for you all to check out!
