We all know ‘The Hunger Games’ was a hit, and we are expecting ‘The Hobbit’ to be just as big. But what we didn’t expect was the increase in names pulled from the two Hollywood blockbusters!

According to the Daily Mail, Nameberry predicts that names like Augustus, Flavius and Thor will be top picks for 2013 baby names. Would YOU name your child after a fictional character?

With the upcoming installment from The Hunger Games and The Hobbit trilogies, we can also expect more baby names being pulled from characters in the two movies.

Besides taking the names of characters from Hollywood blockbusters, a new trend being predicted is an influx of names that are pulled from seasons, nature and celebrities.

Daily Mail also reports that parents are expected to spend more time thinking about their child’s middle name as Nameberry reveals that new parents are beginning to use any word with personal significance, taking the tradition to “new heights of quirkiness and creativity.”

What do you think, HollyMoms, will you be naming your child after characters from upcoming movies or a season?

My son’s name is Anakin and no one has had anything negative to say about it except my MIL. She gets mad that I call him Ani for short and she things it’s a girls name! There is a boy in my son’s play group named Cato (Hunger Games) and another named Ezra (Pretty Little Liars) If I have another child, I like the idea of Lando (also star wars) or Buffy (like Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

OK, I’m a big fan of both movies but could you really name your child after a caracther?! Imagine, you name your son Augustus? Could you imagine his conversation with someone? Like: ,,Hey, what’s up, everyone? I’m Derek.
,,Oh,hi there. I’m Augustus”
And then it would be that awakard silence, and then it would be embberasing laugh and comments like: SERIOSLY? THIS GUY’S NAME IS AUGUsTUS?? WTF?! And like that everytime when he meets someone new. Parents, do you really wish to do this to your sons?

He’d probably go by a nickname anyway, like Auggie or Gus. I named my son Lincoln but we call him “Link” after a favorite video game character. I still think names like “Apple” are more ridiculous.
