Nicki Minaj has made a name for herself by consistently rocking the boat with each new music video, and her latest offering goes one step further — by rocking Noah’s Ark! The soon-to-be American Idol judge recently released her video for “Freedom,” in which she paints herself as a Jesus-type figure, though I’m not sure what she thinks she’s saving us from. Mariah Carey, perhaps?
For good measure, Nicki also channels her inner Glinda with a puffy dress and enormous crown. I feel the video could have benefited with the addition of a few munchkins, but that would have taken attention away from Nicki — and this video is all. about. Nicki.
Nicki recently performed “Freedom” at the American Music Awards on Nov. 18, but she chose to go with a ‘winter wonderland’ theme, as opposed to her Bible-inspired video.
