'Teen Wolf' Stars React To Colton Haynes' 'Shocking' Departure

The only thing more surprising than Colton’s exit from the show are his co-star’s candid reactions.

Teen Wolf fans were shocked, saddened, etc. when news broke that Colton Haynes wouldn’t be returning for the MTV series’ upcoming third season — and it sounds like some of his cast mates were just as stunned. “We found out when everyone else did,” Crystal Reed told The Hollywood Reporter at Jersey Shore‘s “Restore the Shore” fundraiser in NYC. “I didn’t think that it was actually gonna happen … it was shocking for me.”

Tyler Posey, the show’s leading wolf, was apparently less surprised.

“There was talk about him doing this after the first season, so we were kind of used to it,” Tyler admitted. “But then it actually happened. It definitely sucks, it’s definitely weird. It’s gonna be weird to film it without him, but we have a good group of people on our show and we’ll survive.”

As for Colton’s off-camera relationship with the Teen Wolf cast, Dylan O’Brien doesn’t think it will be damaged by his departure.

“I feel like it won’t even feel like he’s gone,” Dylan said. “He’ll probably be still hanging out with us on set and still come to our parties when the show’s on. We’re still really good friends with him and we’re still gonna hang out with him … we wish him good luck, and we’re still gonna see him always.”

Only reason I watched it was because of him. :( Don’t even know if I am going to bother watching it now.

It is so upsetting to learn that Colton won’t be returning next season, his departure will leave so many unanswered questions about his character. A coworker at DISH and I have spent months theorizing about the reason behind his blue eyes in the finale. I hope that the new season still manages to address many of the mysteries and doesn’t disregard them altogether. Even with this sad news; the wait for the new season has been so hard. To cope, I have been re-watching the past season I have recorded on my DISH Hopper. The 2,000 hours of recording space has been amazing with all of my shows, I never have to worry about running out of space. I will be using it when the show returns, to stay caught up with all of the werewolf drama I miss. This show is going to be very strange without Jackson around. He played such a crucial role in the second season, so I hope that he can at least make a cameo at some point to tie up loose ends.
