Justin didn’t purposely leave Selena out of his acceptance speeches at the Nov. 18 American Music Awards. There was good reason for the ‘snub,’ a source tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez’s relationship woes have been the center of attention since their split on Oct. 31. While the Nov. 18 American Music Awards would have been a great platform for Justin to prove his continued love for Selena, he had good reason to keep his lips sealed on the matter.

A source close to Justin tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively, “He really wanted Selena to be there with him [at the AMAs]. Justin wanted to thank Selena in his acceptance speeches, but was advised not to bring up his personal life.”

Perhaps Justin is learning a lesson in keeping his private life — well, private. Even though Selena was missing from the actual ceremony, she reunited with Justin afterwards where they were spotted leaving the show hand-in-hand and spending time together at the after party.
