Megan Kimbrough was left with horrific skin infections — untreatable by antibiotics — after allegedly being set on fire by her husband during his herion-infused rampage. Read on for more of the tragic details.
Megan Kimbrough, 26, had battled an agonizing skin infection in the hospital for three months, brought on by severe burns, before tragically passing away on Nov. 10. Megan was maliciously doused in gasoline and set on fire by her husband Joshua Kimbrough, 32, on Aug. 3 when he was on a drug-fueled rampage after being high on heroin.
Megan died at Tampa General Hospital with her mother by her side, The Ledger in Lakeland, Fla. reported.
Her husband is being held at a local county jail on attempted first-degree murder charges, among other charges. Police say he allegedly threw gasoline on Megan before setting her on fire on Aug. 3. She ran out of the house, where neighbors helped extinguish the flames with blankets.
More than 80 percent of her body was burned, and she underwent 12 skin grafts surgeries in the months since. Her burns were so severe, it took nurses several hours to change her bandages, Megan’s father told ABC.
After the attack on his wife, Joshua “went on a crime spree, burglarizing a house, carjacking a driver at gunpoint and using a stolen credit card,” according to ABC.
Authorities say the charge of attempted first degree murder could be upgraded since Megan’s death.
Such a tragedy. Our thoughts are with Megan and her family during this difficult time.
