The star opens up about her extreme dieting for her upcoming role in the December 2012 issue of ‘Vogue’ magazine.
Anne Hathaway covers Vogue‘s December 2012 issue, where the star shows off her short ‘do, which she initially cut for her upcoming role in Les Miserables — and the hair wasn’t the only drastic change she endured for the film! “I had to be obsessive with it,” she said regarding her weight loss.
“The idea was to look near death. Looking back on the whole experience — and I don’t judge it in any way — it was definitely a little nuts. It was definitely a break with reality, but I think that’s who Fantine is anyway.”
While the weight loss was extreme, the 29-year-old said she has grown to love her cropped hair. “I love the short-haired lifestyle. The only downside is having to get a hair cut every three weeks. But I’m turning 30, and — I hope this isn’t obnoxious to say — I feel prettier, and much more myself. I guess I just feel much more satisfied with less now.”
Les Mierables is one of the most anticipated movies of the holiday season — and Anne knew the role was hers from the very beginning. “I knew that someone was going to have to go in there and do something pretty special to unseat me. Sometimes you leave a room and you feel like maybe you’ve left the door open a crack. This time, I knew that I had slammed it shut behind me,” she said.
We can’t wait to see Anne transform on the big screen in the role! Check out the glam shots of Anne right here and be sure to check out the rest of the interview when the mag hits newsstands on Nov. 20.
