The ‘Modern Family’ star was removed from her mom’s care due to allegations of abuse — but now her mom is speaking out, and calling the claims ‘false and ridiculous.’
Ariel Winter, 14, has accused her mom of physical and emotional abuse — so much so, that a judge awarded temporary guardianship to her older sister Shanelle Gray, who made the same accusations nearly two decades prior. But the Modern Family star’s mom Chrisoula Workman is denying any abuse took place.
“I want to say the horrible, untrue accusations are false and ridiculous.” Charisoula told E! News.
“I have my doctor’s letter that my daughter’s never been abused…I have stylists’ letters that she’s never been abused,” she added.
But a judge disagreed, and placed Ariel in her older sister Shanelle’s care as of Oct. 3.
The guardianship petition states Ariel was abused in the form of “vile name calling, personal insults about [her and her weight], attempts to ‘sexualize’ minor, deprivation of food, etc. for an extended period of time.”
Now, Shanelle — who was also removed from Charisoula’s care nearly 20 years ago — is seeking full guardianship of her younger sister, and head of her estimated $500,000 estate. Charisoula is ordered to stay away from her daughter until their next hearing on Nov. 20.
