The dancers were put to the test this week — and Shawn Johnson got a perfect score with a brand new partner. Plus, a dance off left a new couple at the top of the leader board!

After last week’s heartbreaking elimination, the dancers were back with a new challenge — two dances to one piece of music. Read about the dances and the scores below!

The Fusion Dance

The first fusion dance of Cha Cha and Paso was Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff for a total score of 27/30.
“You’re like a wolf with plenty of muscle power. You should be in Twilight,” Bruno said after Apolo took off his shirt!

Emmitt Smith and partner Cheryl Burke danced the rumba and samba for a total score of 27.5/30. Bruno said, “That was a smooth and balanced blend… that was wonderful!”

Kirstie Alley and Maks danced the quickstep and the samba for a total score of 24/30. “Whatever you do is always entertaining. Only you can turn Cinderella into a stripper. For that, it was brilliant,” Bruno said. Kudos to Kirstie for tweeting about Hurricane Sandy and organizing a huge donation to victims.

Kelly Monaco and partner Val Chmerkovskiy danced the foxtrot and cha cha for a total score of 27/30. “You’ve got those boots working overtime! That was a flashy cha cha!” Bruno said. Their intense love affair becomes more and more apparent with every passing week. Val said that we can expect “children” by the finale!

Tony Dovolani and Melissa Rycroft danced the tango and cha cha for a total score of 29/30. “The dark mistress of tango into a sexy-licious cha cha cha. That transition — I thought Beyonce came out here! You turn me on!” Bruno purred.

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas (filling in for an injured Derek Hough) danced the tango and paso for a total score of 30/30! “The Queen of the night! As fusions go, that was flawless!…It was just sublime!” Bruno raved.

Gilles Marini and Peta danced the Argentine tango and the samba for a score of 28/30! “Sultry and tense in the Argentine tango, exiting and erotic in the samba! Great presence, great command, I salute you,” Bruno commented.

The Swing Dance Marathon

The dancers had to share the dance floor for a four minute marathon where only the strong survive!

One by one, the couples were eliminated from the floor. The first couple eliminated got four points added, while the last couple got 10 points added to their score.

Kirstie and Maks were the first to be eliminated, followed by Gilles and Peta, then Apolo and Karina, then Emmitt and Cheryl, then Shawn and Mark, then Kelly and Val, to leave champions Melissa and Tony on the dance floor!

Topping the leader board this week are Melissa and Tony with 39 while Kirstie and Maks were at the bottom with 28.

Although there is no episode tomorrow because of the Election, next week there will be a double elimination, so be sure to vote!

Who was the strongest couple tonight, HollywoodLifers?

I was so impressed how Shawn Johnson danced both dances seamlessly. You couldn’t even tell when she switched over to the new dance. I think the fusion dances was a brilliant idea, and I absolutely loved it! I have been so busy with my job at DISH, that I haven’t been able to watch DWTS live in a couple weeks. I am so glad my Hopper from DISH records the primetime shows on my four major networks automatically using the PrimeTime Anytime feature; this way I don’t have to worry about setting up the recording. I love when they do the Swing Dance Marathon. I think it is so much fun watching all of them dance at the same time, because you can really see the differences between them. I am sure all of them are relieved that there is no elimination this week.
