Sorry Britney Spears and LA Reid: I really think you made bad calls on last night’s FINAL 12 elimination round — stars were kicked off!
Diamond White has winner stamped all over her pretty 13-year-old face. She’s stunning, confident and far more mature and self-possessed than any 13-year-old has the right to be.
But most importantly for The X Factor’s purposes, she has a strong, stunning voice with incredible range. From the moment of her audition where she sang, “It’s a Man’s, Man’s World,” she appeared to be a shoe-in as one of the last constants standing in this season’s The X Factor.
It was shocking that Britney Spears, her mentor, even placed her in the bottom two of her four contestants. While her performance the day before of “Hey Soul Sister,” wasn’t her her best, it was stil heads and shoulders above that of Beatrice Miller, another 13 year old. Yes, Beatrice is a talent, but she doesn’t have the same charisma that shines from Diamond’s every inch. Hey, the girl is like a real life diamond.
Her rendition of her save-me song “Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word,” was stellar and even Mr. Hard-Nosed himself, Simon Cowell, said that Diamond NEEDED to stay in the competition.
Does Simon Cowell Think Britney Made a Big Mistake?
He gave a long hard stare at Britney while he said this — but it was to no avail.
And honestly Britney had put herself in between a rock and hard place. Her other contestant up for kicking off was charmer, Arin Ray, 16, a huge favorite of every young female in the audience.
Arin, is an adorable younger version of Chris Brown with singing chops and dance moves that have Chris Brown potential. His audition song was an original he penned called, “Count On Me,” and it was pretty damn good. Neither Arin nor Diamond should have been pitted against each other nor slated for X Factor exile.
L.A. pointed out that he wouldn’t want to be be in Britney’s heels having to make the choice she created for herself.
LA Reid’s Shocking Decision
But then it was L.A. Reid who made the shocking decision to dump audience favorite David Correy, 26, and keep “Mr. Entertainment,” Jason Brock, 34.
David has one of the best singing voices in the competition and the determination and fan appeal to make it as a pop star. He did a highly emotional version of Whitney Houston’s “My Love is Your Love,” that the audience ate up. Jason, 34 has a fabulous voice and a winning personality, but honestly his strength is in show tunes like “New York State of Mind,” which he sang in his first audition and then in Whitney Houston’s “One Moment in Time,” his save-me song, which he performed last night.
He’s a lovable talent but does he have The X Factor? Can he really be a pop star? A star on Broadway yes, but a pop star? I don’t think so.
Will Simon Save Diamond?
But then Diamond White and David Correy DO have pop star potential. The show will be lesser for them being ex-ed off the finalists’ list.
Simon — I know you’re very sorry about Diamond. Are you going to pull a Melanie Amaro and rescue this true diamond? What do you think HollywoodLifers? Let me know. Tell me know!
