Khloe Kardashian, you had your critics who doubted you could rise to the task as ‘X factor’ host. Your first night on the show proved them wrong, wrong, wrong. Here’s why:

The Problem With Last Year’s ‘X Factor’ Host

Last year’s host, Steve Jones, failed because he was flat and not emotionally connected to the audience or the contestants.

He didn’t add any warmth, drama, or opinion to the proceedings. And if there’s one thing that The X factor is about, it’s opinion about the talented contestants and the drama of their struggles to shine every week.

Simon Cowell actually told HollywoodLife.com that he thought you would be “there to be a voice for the contestants and to have fun with it.” He also was adament that he’d be happy if you improvised. “When you want to go off script, I always think that’s more fun than someone who is just reading off a teleprompter,” he explained to HollywoodLife.com.

Well Khloe, you did EXACTLY what Simon hoped you would do. You were unpredictable in multiple ways.

Khloe’s Magic Touch as ‘X Factor’ Host

First of all, you unintentionally surprised Simon and the audience with a minor wardrobe malfunction in a purple blouse that revealed you were braless — luckily, she wasn’t embarrassed. It wasn’t an x-rated malfunction, but it certainly had everyone at home immediately glued to the TV.

But more importantly,  you were warm with a big, genuine smile. The moment the TV cameras turned on, and as you loosened up over the night, you tuned out the teleprompter and turned on your questions for the judges.

When the group 1432 (formally LYLAS) was critiqued by Demi Lovato, who said only one member shined, you persistently asked her to reveal who she liked rather than keeping it a secret.

It produced some tension AND some information that both the singers and us audience members wanted to know. Then when Simon told Britney Spears that her song choice for Carly Rose Sonenclar was a dud and that she should have picked another tune, you pressed Simon to be specifc and suggest another song. He was floored at being called out, but in a totally good way.

Khloe Proves Her Critics Wrong

Simon was actually getting exactly what he asked for — good for you, Khloe.

Furthermore, Simon told us you were going to have to have “nerves of steel” when you got up on stage. Check — you did. You didn’t look the least bit nervous.

He also said, “you’ve had your doubters and that you wanted to prove them wrong.”
