The hosts couldn’t help but poke fun at Taylor’s romance with Connor during their opening monologue at the 46th Annual Country Music Awards on Nov. 1 — read on to find out what they said!
Taylor Swift didn’t get away without being jabbed at the CMAs. The country cutie sat smiling at the show but was immediately slammed by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. Just minutes into the show, the hosts joked about the 22-year-old’s short-lived relationship with 18-year-old Conor Kennedy.
The country stars bantered about how there had been a lot of big trades in sports this year but definitely hit a nerve when they poked fun at Taylor. “The biggest trade of the year was in the Kennedy family,” Brad joked. “It was the Kennedy’s trading Arnold Schwarzenegger for Taylor Swift.”
Then they joked about her song “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” and then said: “Will she write a song about this break up? Nah.” They did this because Taylor is known to write songs about all of her failed relationships. This isn’t the first time that Carrie has taken a jab at Taylor.
In 2009, when Carrie and Brad hosted, Taylor winning five awards including Entertainer of the Year, Brad was in the middle of congratulating Taylor when all of a sudden Carrie jumped in and said: “And how were we? We were awesome!”
Do you think it was unfair for the hosts to make fun of Taylor?
