If you’re a fan of Kristen Stewart — and even if you’re not — you’ll fall under her spell as free spirit Marylou in the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s infamous novel, ‘On The Road.’
Kirsten Stewart leaves Bella Swan and Snow White far behind as she plays the young and loving ex-wife of On The Road‘s magnetic central character Dean Moriarty (Garret Hedlund).
As the shockingly open-minded Marylou – who is a sexually liberated and eager-for-adventure young woman in 1947, a time when women were only supposed to be “good girls” — Kristen is totally believable!
She’s loaded with confidence, unlike Bella Swan, and boldly experiments with multiple sex partners — even threesomes. She’s eager to experience life and not afraid to risk getting hurt by loving her ex-husband, who just can’t seem to stop loving other women — and men.
It’s post-war America and the very beginning of The Beat generation – a time when some young people like Marylou, Dean Moriarty and key character Sal Paradise (Sam Riley), were breaking out of the lifestyle constraints and expectations that society had always imposed.
Why Kristen Stewart Is So Good
This tight group of friends is practically drunk on the freedom of being able to explore their destinies, sexuality, and the very country itself. They literally go on the road multiple times, criss-crosssing the country, seeing friends, doing drugs, having sex, and — for Sal at least – looking for the meaning of life.
Kristen’s Marylou can’t break her ties with the sexually magnetic Dean Moriarty. So no matter that she shares him with his second wife Camille (Kirsten Dunst) and other various partners, she holds out hope that he will ultimately commit to her – his true love.
Kristen gives a tender, emotional performance as Marylou and she lets loose as never before in any of her other roles. When Kristen dances wildly with Hedlund’s Dean to jazz, she is completely at ease and submerged in Marylou.
Not even as Joan Jett in The Runaways has Kristen immersed so deeply in a character!
It’s a key reason to see this beautiful film version of On The Road, which completely captures the spirit of the first true age of artistic and spiritual freedom in America.

All this is OBVIOUSLY a publicity stunt but not necessarily one Kristen, Robert or ANY of their Twilight FANS volunteered for. Hollywood did this JUST to cause them PAIN so they could make money off the TEARS of YOUNG GIRLS! It’s TOTALLY BELIEVABLE for Rob to have given Kristen another shot. MOST people who go through this ARE still in LOVE. I’m PROUD of him for hot throwing something away that still MIGHT work out. That COULDN’T have been an EASY thing to do, especially with all the JUDGEMENTS flying around about them BOTH – previously and NOW. Some Twihards are still pretty crazy inside – either seething in anger with Kristen, AND NOW Robert too since they are rumored to have reconciled – or relieved because of it (lets hope it holds or MORE tears). WHY?! TIME to put blame where it belongs – OUR OWN OBSESSIONS caused by Stephenie Meyer’s BOOK PUBLISHER’s professional negligence in publishing Twilight with SUCH an irresponsible, overly-addictive and PREVENTABLE “writing style”.
