When the sexy UK boy band exploded onto the pop scene, they gained celebrity status — and legions of screaming fans! The group dished to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY about how they deal with their mega fame!
The Wanted made a huge splash in America after the releasing their mega hit Glad You Came last winter, and with a third studio album on the way and a hot new video released, the UK boy band is more popular than ever.
The guys in the group, Max George, Jay McGuinness, Siv Kaneswaran, Nathan Sykes, and Tom Parker spoke to HollywoodLife.com exclusively about the biggest change in their lives since reaching superstar status– and shockingly, it’s not the thousands of screaming fans.
“We travel insane amounts, now,” Jay said during Z100′s 2012 Jingle Ball Official Kick Off Party in NYC at the Aéropostale Times Square store on Oct. 19.
“We did two weeks in South America, we don’t ever get a stretch in one city for more than a week, even home, so mostly just travel,” he added.
Although the guys enjoyed a great deal of success in the UK before making the jump across the pond, more and more people know who they are now — which can lead to madness in public. So how do they avoid the fan circus?
“You pick the right places to go to,” Tom said. “Fans don’t usually go to dive bars, so that’s where we usually end up.”
Looks like we’ll be keeping an eye out at hole-in-the-wall pubs whenever the band is in town!
The group, who performed a few of their hit singles at the kick off party, was announced as part of the official z100 Jingle Ball 2012 lineup for the Dec. 7 concert at Madison Square Garden, which also includes performances One Direction, Justin Bieber, and Taylor Swift.
