Jessica opens up about the steps she’s taken to lose the weight gained while she was pregnant with newborn daughter Maxwell in a safe way in a new interview! Read on for all the details on her plan!

Jessica Simpson has lost 60 pounds after nearly six months, since the May 1 birth of daughter Maxwell with fiancé with Eric Johnson. It’s been a slow struggle, but that’s good because, as her Weight Watchers leader Liz Josefsberg tells Us Weekly, “We believe in healthy weight loss, which is between a pound and wo a week.” Jessica’s $4 million contract with Weight Watchers isn’t the only thing the new mom has relied on for her weight loss, though. She’s implemented a five-point plan that’s helped her safely lose the weight!

1. Stick To A Diet

Her Weight Watchers diet is only the first step. Jessica, 32, follows the WW PointsPlus program, where all foods are assigned a point value based on their level of fat, carbs, fiber and protein. She enjoys healthful, portion-controlled meals, like a breakfast of egg whites, peppers, and fat-free cheddar cheese. Her lunch is her favorite: a salad with spinach, pears, and four ounces of grilled chicken satay. Dinner is light: four ounces of tilapia with asparagus and broccoli.

2. Rely On A Support System

Jessica tells Us Weekly that she’s had a support team to help her through the moments where she was “really down” on herself. Her mom Tina Simpson and a group of friends signed up for the Weight Watchers plan with her. The group would have weekly weight-ins at Jessica’s house on Wednesdays, where “we talk about what we’ve struggled with,” she said. “It’s really encouraging to know you’re all going through the same thing. Out meetings are also a great time to celebrate victories.”

3. Get Serious About Fitness

Jessica began a four-day-a-week workout schedule with trainer Harley Pasternak in June, in which she has 45-minute circuit-training sessions. She’s never skipped a workout, even when she stubbed a toe. She also wears a pedometer to track her steps and goes on frequent walks so she can hit a minimum of 10,000 steps a day (nearly five miles!).

4. Find Your Motivation

She uses her work schedule as motivation to keep her going. An insider says, “She has a ton of press for Fashion Star and she wants to look great.” She’s also dead set on being slimmer for her, currently unplanned, wedding to Eric. “She won’t walk down the aisle until she is almost back to her old body,” the insider tells the magazine.

5. Avoid Food Temptations

Jessica packs her own lunches and snacks to bring to the Fashion Star set and avoids the catering area at all costs. “We literally mapped out a different direction from the trailer to the stage so she wouldn’t walk by it,” Liz says. Jessica has also given up her beloved margaritas, as a source says she doesn’t think they’re worth the points.

Are you proud of Jessica for losing her weight the healthy way, HollywoodLifers?

Try replacing some of the white flour in your baked goods with whole wheat flour to boost their nutritional content. Whole wheat flour has more fiber and nutrients than white flour and is less processed. You can replace up to half of the white flour and you won’t even notice the difference.
