A pregnant Philadelphia woman on her way to a doctor’s appointment went into labor while riding a subway train! She approached two police officers for help while cradling her newborn baby with his umbilical cord still attached.
Philadelphia transit passengers were in for a huge surprise on Oct. 16 when a woman went into labor on a subway train, and emerged on the platform cradling her newborn baby — with his umbilical cord still attached!
The woman, whose name is not being released, exited the train and climbed a flight of stairs to seek help, all while holding her newborn baby wrapped in a sweatshirt.
She approached police officer Loyd Rodgers and said, “this is my baby, I just had a baby.”
He and his partner fetched a blanket to keep the baby warm, and comforted her as they waited for paramedics to arrive.
“The joy she had on her face I would never be able to explain in a thousand years,” he said.
The mom and baby were taken to the nearby Albert Einstein Medical Center, and are in good condition.
