Emily and Jef were right to pull the plug on their relationship rather than going along with it for publicity. Don’t YOU agree?
Well that last long! Bachelorette Emily Maynard and Jef Holm have called it quits after a five-month engagement. The pair announced the news to PEOPLE magazine after many speculated — and expected — the split.
“I am sorry to tell you that Jef and I have, indeed, parted ways,” Emily told PEOPLE. “It was a very difficult and heartbreaking decision. As you know, at first I wasn’t sure that I should even be The Bachelorette, but I am a hopeless romantic and I do believe in the show. I have no regrets because I did find love and shared an incredible journey with a really special person – and you know what, we tried our best because the love between us was so real.”
But the most eyebrow-raising part of the statement was when Emily said, “I have nothing but respect and love for Jef and his family, but ultimately we are just at different points in our lives.”
Hmm! While I’m sure there are several reasons as to why they broke up — which they didn’t reveal to the public — I’m happy they ended their relationship if it wasn’t really working out. I was rooting for them the entire time, but I’m glad they didn’t continue to fake it it for the cameras because Emily and Jef aren’t the only ones in this relationship. Emily’s seven-year-old daughter Ricki is also part of the equation and this split is probably hurting her, as well. Jef, despite his cheating rumors, drove little Ricki to school and attended her cheerleading games!
On Twitter, Emily and Jef appeared to be doing just fine, but clearly something rocked their love boat. Whatever it may be, I’m happy they mustered up the courage to face the public and admit that their love no longer exists.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Are you happy they split instead of faking it for the cameras? Vote and weigh in below.
