Demi Lovato's Anti-Bullying Campaign

‘The X Factor’ judge sat down with EXCLUSIVELY for a candid interview revealing why she came forward about her eating disorder and her beauty secrets for flawless skin — watch our video below!

Demi Lovato, 20, is wise beyond her years and it’s no wonder — the beautiful star has gone through more personal struggles than most. In fact, as a result of having been bullied at a young age, Demi dealt with physical and emotional issues for years, which is why her involvement with the Secret Mean Stinks anti-bullying campaign is so important to her.

Aside from her amazing talent, what we love about her most is her willingness to open up about her life and the obstacles she’s faced.

“My 10-year-old sister Madison means the world to me,” says Demi. “I wanted to be a good influence for her and show her that I could raise my voice about issues like bullying and eating disorders and get help.”

October is National Bullying Prevention Month and Secret Mean Stinks is helping to bring an end to meanness. The launch of their new ‘Gang Up for Good’ hub brings together expert advice, challenges to inspire acts of kindness and the opportunity for girls who have experienced, overcome and witnessed bullying to share their #NiceAdvice with each other.

“[The campaign] is targeted for young women and young girls,” Demi explained to us. “Tell your friends! Make the pinky pledge! We do this thing called the Pinky Pledge — we paint our fingernail blue on our pinky and blue is the color of hope, so we pinky promise each other that we’re not going to bully each other. Make the pinky promise with your friends!”

Demi also shared her flawless skin secrets! “I take care of my face. The firs thing I do in the morning, I wash my face, moisturize it, put sunblock it. Just keep it really hydrated during the day.”

Demi also revealed her favorite X Factor contestant — Jennel Garcia!

I wish she wore less makeup (or none at all) and didn’t constantly dye her hair. All that vanity is part of the problem.

She’s such a cool person that she doesn’t need it anyway.

I love her. I’ve been through some bad crap and I can honestly say that her influence has kept me going sometimes. Giving up is easy, but if there is even the smallest chance it will improve, fight for it.
