After five agonizing days in the search for missing Jessica Ridgeway, a body was found in an open field near Denver, Colo. on Oct. 10. Police are examining the body for signs it could belong to the 10-year-old girl, who has been missing since Oct. 5.
A body found on Oct. 10 in the Denver suburb of Arvada is feared to belong to 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway, who was last seen on Oct. 5 just a few miles away in Westminster, Colo.
During a press conference on Oct. 11, police did not offer any comment on the body that was found.
“At this point, we don’t have additional information we can provide,” Westminster police spokesman Trevor Materasso said during the 6:45 a.m. news conference.
The body was found on the fifth day of the search, but police say the search fo 10-year-old Jessica will still continue throughout the Westminster area.
Jessica has been missing since the morning of Oct. 5. She disappeared on her way to school, last seen leaving her home at 8:30 am to walk to a park three blocks away, where she was supposed to meet with friends for the walk to school.
She never made it to the park. Her backpack and water bottle were found in the neighboring town of Superior.
Investigators have ruled out Jessica’s parents as possible suspects, and are focusing on an unknown suspect who is believed to have abducted her.
We are keeping Jessica and her family in our thoughts during this difficult time.
