Jackson (Colton Haynes) may have finally turned into a werewolf on the season finale of Teen Wolf — but don’t expect to see his story line progress too much in season three, as Colton announced Oct. 11 that he will not be returning with the rest of the cast in 2013! “These past few yrs have been the best of my life,” the show’s (former) star tweeted. “I’m sad that this chapter has ended, but excited for a new one to begin. Thx for the love.”
So what’s the reason for Colton’s sudden — and, honestly, shocking — exit?
E! Online offers conflicting reports, all of which center around contract negotiations. One source claims Colton was given a “lucrative offer” to appear on two seasons, but his team botched the offer by waiting too long. A second source tells the site that Colton was only offered a deal to appear on half of the upcoming third season, which “didn’t make sense” to him.
Regardless of the reason for his departure, Colton’s decision is being described as “heartbreaking.”
“He is used to hanging out with the cast every day,” a source explains. “They are his friends. But he couldn’t agree to a limited role.”
The first five episodes of season three have already been written, and Jackson has reportedly been left out entirely.
Though a source tells the site that “Colton could still come back,” this is sure to be a dark day for Teen Wolf fans everywhere.

I think that they should have him killed or something so that he does leave the show. I’ll miss him and having him just leaving the show with no explanation of why his character suddenly disappears will ruin Jackson’s character!! :( I will miss him SO much. Lydia and Jackson were probably finally falling back in love. At least Stiles has a chance now!

This sucks that jacksons not coming back i love hin hes one of my fav characters and hes so cute i hope hell come back i was looking forward to seeing him in season 3….jackson has to stay in the show everyone loves him!!!!

He and Lydia were my favorite characters and i loved every scene with them. This is heartbreaking news and i really hope he will change his mind! It’s not Teen Wolf without him! <3 <3 <3 :'(

SMH. Its not like they had to really think up of how his story was gonna continue…he had his family’s history and his struggle to be a werewolf. ugh! this really suxxxxxx!!!!

horrible news… i love him!!! They need to bring him back because it will be very awkward to have a main character just be written out and not at least given a followup as to what happens to his character. That is very lame! I will still watch the show but I am very shocked and upset!

Has anyone actually confirmed this with Colton himself or Jeff Davis? Last I checked, both Jeff and the MTV executives were under the impression that Colton would be back again. Also, the tweet being used by many as “evidence” that Colton is leaving is vague and best, and considering he’s moving to a new house/apartment after living in the same place for the past 6 years could easily be seen as the end of a chapter of his life. I’d like some less vague “proof” before getting whipped up into a frenzy over this.

If you’re referring to the fact that he was left out of the first 5 scripts, they couldn’t write for his character because they didn’t know if he was coming back. As it turns out, they made the right decision.
