Need some adventure this weekend? Check out the high-octane follow-up to the 2008 action hit!
Taken 2 is finally here, and it follows the further adventures of Liam Neeson‘s retired CIA badass Bryan Mills. This time, his ex-wife Lenore (Famke Janssen) is captured by bad guys. The reason? Retaliation for all of the damage Bryan caused in the first movie while looking for his daughter Kim (Maggie Grace). As you can imagine, this film is chock-full of thrills and action — and it did NOT disappoint. Check out our list of five reasons you should see Taken 2 and tell us if YOU will be headed to the movies this weekend!
1) Liam is the perfect action lead!
Liam, 60, has reinvented himself as the quintessential man’s man — mostly due to the success of the first Taken. It’s safe to say that he slips into the role like a glove, taking down bad guys left and right. It’s already an iconic action role, and we hope he keeps up the energy in the future.
2) The chase scenes are thrilling!
Taken 2 is one epic adventure movie, and every section brings a slew of chases, showdowns and fast-paced action setpieces. Love Bourne and Bond? Then you will love Taken 2!
3) It’s a perfect movie to bring a date to!
At the screening I attended, EVERYONE was pleased with Taken 2. If you are constantly trying to find common ground with your boyfriend, this is the film to see. There is plenty of action and guns — without sacrificing a story and emotions. Also, Lenore and Kim are strong female characters — it’s great to see them getting into the chase as well!
4) This adventure brings the audience around the world!
I’m a sucker for spy movies that showcase exotic locales, and Taken 2 definitely fits the bill. From Istanbul to Albania, the movie has an emphasis on globetrotting, which makes for an even more exciting movie experience!
5) It’s a great reminder of how fun movies can be!
We’re gearing up for awards season at HollywoodLife.com, and a number of life-changing and important films will vie for industry recognition. That is all well and good, but sometimes you just want some gunfights to go along with your popcorn. After a long week at school or work, you can definitely vibe out and have fun with Taken 2.
