The Kardashians start another trend. And this time, it’s their youngest member. Mason is the most popular boys’ name across the country. Can you guess what name tops the girls’ list?

Mason Disick is just two years old, but he’s already as big a cultural phenomenon as his mom Kourtney Kardashian! State-by-state, Mason once again tops the list for most popular boys’ names in 2011.

According to a list by the Social Security Administration, which tracks name trends in each state dating back to 1880, Mason is the top pick for boys’ names in 22 states, including Maryland, Missouri, New York and Idaho.

Noah, a popular biblical name, was the number-one pick for Hawaii, but Jacob once again grabbed the top spot in several states, including California and Texas — we’d like to think the Twilight franchise was behind this one.

For girls, Sophia grabbed the top spot in a whopping 22 states, such as Arizona, Oregon, and Pennsylvania. Teen Mom’s Farrah Abraham was ahead of the trend in 2009 when she named her little girl Sophia — or maybe she started it!

The name Emma came in at a close second, and Olivia and Ava were also popular picks for baby girls.

What do YOU think of the popular names HollyMoms? Let us know if your kid’s name made the list!

@Lisa different people have different naming styles Personally I’ve always like both names Mason & Penelope and by the way Mason is a unisex name. as for Sophia being the top name for girls that trend started long before teen mom the name sophia started to climb in the mid 1980’s spured by film fans that love Sophia Loren though it wasn’t in the top 200 names until the 190’s when it started at 132

I hope you are aware that Jacob has been the #1 name for MANY years before “Twilight” came out. It makes you look so stupid to imply that a long-time popular name was made popular by a book that came out more than a decade after the name rose and stayed at the top of the list. I know you aren’t real journalists here, so I will say: at least google a thing or two before posting.

All Kourtney did was pick a name that was already at #34 and accelerate it’s rise to popularity. This name has been in the top 100 since 1996 and even before that it was climbing. Mason was destined to become top 10 before 2009, all that has happened is that it quickly shot up 32 spots, and it will probably start falling in a few years.
