Robert Pattinson: I Wouldn’t Be An Actor Without ‘Twilight’

Rob admits that, without ‘Twilight,’ he probably would have given up on acting in a newly-released interview! Read on for all the details.

Robert Pattinson has become a global superstar by starring in the Twilight Saga as Edward Cullen, but, as he’s admitted in a newly-released interview, he finds the role responsible for him having a career at all!

Rob, 26, tells Greek newspaper To Vima, that he doubts he’d be an actor at all if the Twilight success hadn’t befallen him.

“I had filmed a few movies before Twilight, but I’m not even sure I would still be an actor if Twilight success hadn’t occurred. David (Cronenberg) claims he liked my acting when he saw me in Little Ashes…I wasn’t well paid before Twilight…When I was filming Little Ashes, I was completely broke. I was going to quit acting and look for another job. Then Twilight came.”

Phew! Thankfully Twilight came along and stopped Rob from walking away from acting!

i dont get everyone think rob owes kristen yes she may have go him the job but if it was someone cheating on you how would you feel you can expect him to forgive her like tht i was a bigggg fan oof kristen but if she says she loves rob y did she cheat in the first place rob was everything she wanted so y did she do it but as i have said its not ower chose to make its his if he wants her he will have :) xxxxher

thank you rob for appreciating twilight ,and oh—— i guess you people has to go get the real information on how rob got his role ,no need to argue.he always ask or seek kristens opinion because ,they are patners.most actors and actresses do that,some do ask their mom some their girlfriend about their scripts.he owe kristen nothing when it comes to where he is today.he happened to be really good in what he does,and i guess ,luck and GOD himself must be on his side .that is why am interested in in following his project.i mean i love art though am in the area of medicine.he looks promising when it comes to his work.i hope he will make it,per his work and not his appearance,though he looks good too.

I wonder if he realizes he wouldn’t have been in Twilight if Kristen Stewart hadn’t chosen him to be Edward. Summit and Godfrey had already chosen Shilo Fernandez to play Edward but Kristen told them she would not be Bella if Robert was not chosen as Edward. Yes, he owes his career to her whether he appreciates it or wants to admit it or not. This comes from an interview Shilo did while filming Red Ridinghood.

Who cares how or who started his career? Everbodys career is started somehow, somewhere, or by some person. You dont get to where you are all on your own. You need encouragement and strong words by your peers. The person that says “youre hired” or “youve got the part” plays a role into an actor/actresses future. Wtf are you guys going on about? A BUNCH of ppl helped rob get to where he is today. At the same time its not just because of them its also because of him. Youre not gonna get the job if you cant ACT. He has potential. Hes great at what he does and he deserves to be in the position he is in and there are friends, family, coworkers, fans, directors, and etc. getting him there. Leave him alone.

Your right Rob has said that he would ask Kristen what she thought of the scripts he got he would listen to her and what she had to say she is one of his strongest and gave him the encouragement to do a film.

Kristen may have helped Rob get a break, but she did not do his job for him. Rob had to read scripts, cope with changes, learn his parts, learn foreign languages for some of the movies, learn timing, cope with sparkle make-up and contact lenses, perform stunts, work 12-14 hr. days, show up even when sick, cope with crazy fans who gave him no peace and prevented him from bonding with cast (he had to live apart from them because of the thousands of fans who followed him). He did a good job because he had talent, was gracious and very likable. Rob would have been fired if he could not cut it! I hate it when y’all try to diminish what he has done. (And, he knows how Kristen helped him early on, but as of late, she just about killed him with her choices.)

If it were not for Kristen Rob would not have gotten the jobs he got. Yes people saw he was a good actor BUT it was because of Kristen that they got to see him. He even said he was do with acting. And I am going to call you stupid for saying doesn’t mean she can cheat on him. She made a mistake and admitted it she did not do it on purpose and you are stupid if you think she did she has been with him for 3 plus years. She made a bad judgement call and owned up to it. She took a beating from his crazies something she has been doing for years and is still standing she us a strong women who is human and messed up she will became stronger from this. Again yes Rob is getting jobs BUT if he never did Twilight he would not be getting these job and he got Twilight because of Kristen they wanted the guy from RRH Shilo something and Kristen said NO it has to be Rob. Rob has even said this he new no one wanted him. You can hate her for cheating she is used to your hate but you can not take the FACT away it is because of her Rob is making movies.

You are sooooooo totally right, Kristen had to audition with like 500 guys that day & Rob was like the next to last & she told Catherine Hardwicke “it absolutely positively has to be Rob or I’m done”. And Catherine has talked many times in interviews over the past few yrs about how their chemistry was like love at first sight & how awesome their acting was together. Rob said in several interviews when Twilight came out that his dad told him to give it one more try & he said if he hadn’t gotten that part he was quitting right then & there & heading back to England to concentrate on his music. But it’s not just the fact that Kristen got him the part by choosing him but the fact that his chemistry just with her is what brought out the best in him not to mention the fact that she became the only person he could really open up to and confide in without being judged. And she didn’t just do that with the Twilight movies she is also the one that helped him pick the other movies he has stared in because they are so close she is the one he knew would help him make the right decision. And if you ask me I think she chose pretty damn well for him. Even though Cosmopolis wasn’t that great of a movie because of the story line Rob did a fantastic job with his part & because of Kristen’s supposed cheating tryst she is responsible for it doing way better at the box office than it ever would have because his fans were so pissed at her that they were buyin bunches of extra tickets just so he’d have high ticket sale counts.
I don’t even believe she really had an affair I think the whole damn thing was made up for publicity, but I’ll tell ya what, even if she had slept with the guy I still think Rob should take her back because he owes her BIG BIG BIG TIME!!!!!!!!
P.S. I’m not some teeny bopper either, so I’m not saying this because I’m some young immature kid who doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

Tracy, She wasnt the final decison or anything. They saw that they had chemistry. kristen saw that too. Obviously since she broke up with her ex boyfriend just for him by the middle of 2009. Just because kristen helped rob get a job doesnt mean he deserves to be stepped all over and cheated on. Rob does not owe his success to kristen at all. He keeps getting more and more interesting movies and job offers because he is good at acting not because of kristen. To Percy, I am a big Kristen Stewart fan and an older fan, I have watched her grow up in the movies. I was also not pleased about her decision she made with Rupert Sanders. But in all it was her decision and it is her personal life. Kristen has been nothing but gracious to all of her fans, she does not need to be treated like garbage. She has given her heart and soul into the Twilight movies. Kristen has had only two boyfriends and has been loyal to both of them. Everyone has to ask what happened with Rupert, Kristen should be given the benefit of doubt. She apologized openly and publicly, that took alot of guts. She is extremely distraught over her bad decision and
she will always have that in the back of her head. But it is time to let it go. Rob and only Rob truly knows Kristen and what Kristen has done for his career. I still say without Kristen’s influence with Summit, Rob might have been jobless. I will continue to support “both” of them in their decisions.

Lisa–With Rob P. It is the whole package. It is his sense of humor, intelligence, kindness, humility, generous spirit, work ethic. Also, his loyalty to many people: Kristen, his long-time friends and family, directors, cast and crews. Physically, it is his “manly” jaw line, eyes, lips, his height and physique. I love to hear him speak about the history of the movie industry, (world-wide) books he has read, people he has met and worked with, his travels. Looks are subjective and you may think he is not handsome, but there are many other attributes to appreciate.
