Spoiler alert! Stop reading if you don’t want to know what happened to Arizona on the ninth season premiere of ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’
Some actors would give an arm and a leg for their character to receive a powerful, meaningful story line on a TV show — or in the case of Jessica Capshaw on Grey’s Anatomy, just a leg. HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site TVLine chatted with the actress after the game-changing ninth season premiere about Arizona’s future struggles, and how they will affect her relationship with Callie (Sara Ramirez).
For starters, “Calzona” fans are in for a bumpy ride; Jessica promises their relationship will become “as dark as [it can] get.”
“We’re not aiming to tell a story of defeat, so what goes up must come down, but [Arizona] is steamin‘ mad and looking for anyone and everyone else to blame but herself,” Jessica tells TVLine. “Ever since she got back from Africa, everything has happened to her. … and she’s always risen to be the good man in the storm. And I think that this is her time to finally be, ‘What? Stop already. I have no part in this. It’s all just happening to me. And now I have to figure out how to survive this.’”
And although Arizona currently blames Callie for amputating her leg, Jessica says all that could change in the new few weeks.
“In the coming episodes you will see who was responsible,” she explains. “Not necessarily who was to blame.”
So much drama! But hey, at least Arizona is alive, right?
