The body of Reena Mae Williams, 3, was found in a body of water 25 yards from her home, and now her parents are being charged with child neglect. The little girl was spotted wandering the streets alone hours prior to her death — read on for more tragic details.

The parents of Reena Mae Williams, 3, have been charged with felony child neglect after the toddler’s body was found in a canal just 25 yards from their home in Dansbury, Wisconsin. In mid-August, a neighbor, Diana Naylor, found the little girl wandering the streets alone 12 blocks from home, so she returned her to her home — and just two hours later, Reena was reported missing again.

‘That was just appalling, that she could go missing and get returned, then be missing again an hour later,’ Diana told Minneapolis TV station KMSP.

Police in Dansbury, Wisconsin say the parents, Jenna Danish, 33, and Thomas Jay Williams, turned themselves in on Sept. 23, just a couple days after a warrant was placed for their arrest in connection to Reena’s death. They face a maximum of 25 years in prison.

According to a complaint filed against the couple, they reportedly had a pattern of drug use and neglect, and their three-year-old girl was found wandering from home at least six times in the last year, sometimes several miles from home.

When police continued their investigation, they declared the couple’s house too dangerous for a toddler, and found synthetic marijuana inside, as well as no fencing in the yard or near the water.

What a tragedy. Hopefully justice is served. What do YOU think HollyMoms?
