The Olympic gold medalist announced on the ‘Today’ show that not only is she expecting her third child — she was pregnant during the 2012 London Olympics! Congrats to Kerri and her husband Casey!

Kerri Walsh Jennings not only took home her third gold medal after she won the beach volleyball finals with teammate Misty May Treanor at the 2012 London Olympic games, but she was also pregnant with her third child the entire time!

The American athlete and her husband Casey Jennings spoke to to the Today show on Sept. 24 to confirm the good news to viewers, and admit that while she was carrying her team to victory, she was also carrying a 5-week-old baby!

“It’s just so exciting,” she told Matt Lauer.

Although she is only 11 weeks along, Kerri said this pregnancy has already been much different than her previous two (she is a mom to sons Joey, 3, and Sundance, 2).

“This little one is kicking my butt! The first two were pretty easy, but with this one, I’m sick every day. I’ve got some awesome acne. I just feel different,” she said.

Kerri also didn’t plan to be pregnant for the Olympics; she and her husband just started trying co conceive about a month before her journey to London, and it happened a lot quicker than she thought.

“Apprently we’re very fertile,” she said while covering her face in embarrassment.

Dr. Nancy Snyderman, NBC’s chief medical editor, said competing in the Olympics did not put Kerri’s unborn baby at risk at all, saying that fetuses five weeks into pregnancy are very small, and very well protected.
