Kate Middleton is devastated over the photos that were published of her sunbathing topless on vacation but is putting on a ‘brave face’, says a new report. Keep reading for more details!
Kate Middleton‘s topless photo scandal couldn’t have come at a worse time — the story broke as she and Prince William were on a Royal Tour of Asia, in the spotlight and being heavily photographed every day.
Although they’ve had to make many public appearances with brave faces and smiles since the photos surfaced, Kate must be “absolutely gutted,” says a hometown friend.
Kate hasn’t had a misstep since she married Prince William on April 29, 2011. But her good behavior goes way back, before the wedding. During her eight-year romance with Prince William, friends told PEOPLE she never got drunk, instead only sipping a single cocktail (or just drinking water) on nights out. She has only worn conservative and appropriate outfits to impress The Queen and William’s father Prince Charles since her romance with Will started getting serious.
“She’s a very demure, private person,” Kate’s hometown friend told PEOPLE. “This is a horrific thing to happen.”
As Will and Kate try hard not to let the scandal affect her, The Palace, including the Queen, supports the young couple and has won a court ruling to stop the photos from being published.
Not everyone feels bad for Kate. Dai Davies, former head of royal protections at Scotland Yard says, “they appear to have not learned the lessons of history.”
Will’s former press officer Colleen Harris added, “William will be absolutely fuming. This is what he hates about the paparazzi.” She added, “If she thought for a second anyone would see, she wouldn’t have done it.”
But Kate will get through this hard time eventually. “She’s tougher than people give her credit for,” adds Harris.
