When Kylee Mills Simmerman‘s relatives couldn’t find her at their Kentucky home after searching for 30 minutes, they called police to report her missing. By the time authorities arrived at the house, they made a tragic and shocking discovery — little Kylee was found lifeless after being trapped inside a beanbag chair.
She was unresponsive at the scene, so medical technicians rushed her to the University of Kentucky Hospital, but she was pronounced dead shortly later. The cause of death was listed as asphyxia or suffocation.
Kylee was the youngest granddaughter of Kentucky state representative Terry Mills.
‘We are suffering here,” he told The Lexington Herald-Leader. “We’ll get through this, but it’s not going to be easy. We’ll just have to deal with this.”
The investigation is ongoing, but authorities do not believe there was any foul play involved.
“I think it’s clear what happened… we believe she climbed into a bean bag,” Rep. Mills said.
