It was a shocking moment for fans when, after accepting her win for Video of the Year at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday, Sept. 6, Rihanna greeted ex-boyfriend Chris Brown with a hug and kiss. However exciting it may have been, noted experts are worried that Rihanna may be heading back into dangerous territory!
Carole Lieberman, M.D. psychiatrist and author of Bad Girls: Why Men Love Them & How Good Girls Can Learn Their Secrets, tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively, “Rihanna is playing with fire!” She believes that Rihanna is actively trying to steal Chris back from his current girlfriend Karrueche Tran, but warns that she needs to be careful.
Rihanna Wants To Seduce Chris Brown Away From His Girlfriend
“She’s a bad girl who knows exactly what she’s doing in trying to seduce Chris away from his girlfriend and back to her. By giving him a quick kiss after her win and tussling his hair, she’s trying to make it seem playful and innocent, when she knows all along it’s going to make Chris hot for her again,” Carole says. She also believes Rihanna’s new haircut, which she debuted at the ceremony, is part of her plan. “Her short haircut is similarly a ploy to remind him of how she looked when they were together. Somebody should show her a photo of how she looked after he beat her up. But, Rihanna and Chris seem inevitably drawn to each other like moths to a flame – and she will get burned again.”
Noted relationship expert Diana Falzone doesn’t disagree, but is more concerned by Rihanna’s mindset than by anything that Chris might do. She tells us, “Rihanna is a girl lost in love. I fear that she is returning to an unsafe relationship. Perhaps the abuse may not happen again, however it is her mindset that is most worrisome.”
Diana believes that Rihanna is ignoring her own best interests and should, instead, stay away from Chris, saying, “She is putting a man before herself and her best interest. Although she is a superstar, her behavior is very much indicative of a young woman with a low self-image. Once someone abuses you, you never go back. Rihanna, be an example for other victims of domestic abuse and steer clear of your ex.”

Radio host and relationship expert Cooper Lawrence is a bit more optimistic about the situation, hoping that Chris has changed his ways. She tells us, “My hope is that it means he has worked out his anger issues and has reached out to her and they are trying to move forward. There is too much at stake (his career/fans/future) for him to go back to his old ways. It’s been a slow process of healing -however -that doesn’t mean they can’t.”
“Much like an alcoholic who gets past their alcohol abuse and becomes sober, so too can someone who has been a physical abuser acknowledge what they have done and stop those patterns,” Cooper says. “Most women who have been abused are unwilling to be there for the healing process but, perhaps, Rihanna is willing. Physical abuse is a learned behavior, so with the proper motivation and therapy, why can’t it be unlearned?”

Family therapist Dr. Jeffrey Gardere tells us, however, that the kiss was more a message to the public! “This is their way of telling everyone that they are all grown-up and sick and tired of being treated as damaged children,” he says. “The kiss they shared was the kiss off to the public to leave them alone. It was an act of defiance. And it is also a clear signal that they are still intertwined even if they are not together as boyfriend and girlfriend.”
