Nina is in a loving relationship with her ‘Vampire Diaries’ co-star Ian Somerhalder, and she’s revealing the key to a good relationship in the Oct. 2012 issue of ‘Seventeen!’ Read on for all the details.

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder are two of our FAVORITE people in Hollywood (we love them even better together), and thanks to Seventeen’s October 2012 issue, we now know what attracts Nina to Ian!

“I think people should be with the person who makes them smile. The minute you’re not smiling anymore, you shouldn’t be in the relationship. That’s what you figure out by having good or bad experiences with boyfriends and finding out what qualities you like and don’t like in a person. It’s part of growing up and learning. You should always be with the people who make you feel happiest,” Nina says.

Nina also revealed that she fought her feelings for Ian, her co-star on The Vampire Diaries, for a long time before finally giving in and following her heart!

She said, “The first time I was on the cover of Seventeen, the cover line said ‘Nina: Why she wouldn’t date any of her co-stars.’ And then cut to two years later…it’s funny that I said that, but you know what? It was honestly what I believed at the time. I didn’t want to be dating one of my costars — my goal on the show was to be professional. But sometimes you can’t help who you have a connection with, and you can only fight it for so long — which I did for a really, really long time.”

What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Do you hope to see Nina and Ian get married soon?
