Michelle Obama Defends Women’s Rights In DNC Speech

Hooray Michelle! You laid it on the line in your inspiring DNC speech — boldly stating that President Obama believes American women can make their own choices about their healthcare!

Michelle Obama, you wowed from the moment you walked onstage in your red and lavender sleeveless Tracy Reese dress and pink J. Crew pumps.

You’ve never EVER looked better or more fit!

For anyone who hasn’t been eating their vegetables or working out regularly, like First Lady Michelle who launched her “Let’s Move” campaign, she was a walking advertisement to get started.

But looking fabulous was just Michelle’s warm up. Once the First Lady got started, she launched right in to making points that matter to millions of American women.

She reminded us that her husband signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to help women get equal pay for equal work. Today, women still only make 77 cents for every dollar that men earn.

She touted his national health care plan. “When it comes to the health of our families, Barack refused to listen to all those folks who told him to leave health reform for another day, another president,” she said. He did it, she explained, because he believes “our kids should be able to see a doctor when they’re sick… and no one in this country should ever go broke because of an accident or illness.”

As a mom, I couldn’t agree with her more.

Having had two daughters fight life-threatening illnesses — one was stricken with a brain tumor; the other leukemia — I can tell you that fighting insurance companies to cover the bills is almost as terrible as fighting the disease.

WOMEN CAN MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS ABOUT THEIR HEALTHCARE

And then Michelle bravely went right on to say what many women have been waiting to hear in this presidential campaign: “He believes that women are more than capable of making our own choices about our bodies and healthcare… that’s what my husband stands for.”

And what a relief after Republican Congressman Todd Akin‘s comments on “legitimate” rape and Vice-Presidential nominee Paul Ryan‘s view that abortion should be illegal, even in cases of rape or incest.

And then Michelle pointed out how much she and the President are just like us. “When we first married, our combined monthly student loan bills were higher than our mortgage,” she explained. “We were so young, so in love and so in debt.”

Been there, done that. But that’s why she pointed out that her husband has fought so hard to increase student aid and to keep interest rates down, “so every young person can fulfill their promise and be able to attend college without a mountain of debt.”

Yes, that’s so important. Very few people can totally “build it” alone, if they don’t have parents well-off enough to pay for a college education, and with rolodexes full of business contacts. Most young people need some help to get started building successful lives.

EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A RIGHT TO MARRY

Then Michelle threw her support behind gay marriage. “And if proud Americans can be who they are and boldly stand at the altar with who they love… then surely, surely we can give everyone in this country a fair chance at that great American Dream.”

It was another courageous first for a First Lady who has warmly embraced and supported military families and who has always said that her most important job is mom-in-chief!

Thanks Michelle, for being such a modern, inspiring role model for so many American women!

Obama has done an amazing job rebuilding the United States. People forget about the biggest mess Obama/Biden inhertied from the Bush administration and where we were headed . I commend Obama/Biden for taking the job on rolling up their sleeves to desperately pull us out of this nasty recession. It’s sad to say the least that Obama doesn’t get the credit that is deserving. You see, when you’re in a positiion as the President, you allow GOD to work through you and for you. Obama doesn’t sweat nor does he care about what his critics think. We have too many ignorant people who are worried about the color of his skin, then the man that he is ” A GREAT LEADER” . God placed OBAMA in this position and he’s here to stay !!! Moving forward and anxiously praying for another 4 years. God knows that ROMEY is not the qualified leader.. VERY RICH MAN IS ALL….OBAMA 12….. Love that family and all that they represent…. Great job Michelle !!

The speech was great (to an extent) but the best part of the speech was where she told their love story bit.ly/RGjx53

Not a fan but Mrs O did look very nice and made a very good speech last night. She did her job and did quite well, like talking about all the “good” points of Obamacare but left out details like it alone contains 21 NEW taxes and that Obama tried to get the military medical changed so that they would have to purchase their own private insurance even after returning from battle…….I personally do NOT want another 4 years of Obama – ask yourself if you and yours are better off today then you were 4 years ago…..if you can answer yes, then hurray for you – I would vote for a potted plant agains Obama and EVERYONE should see the movie 2016 – it’s SCARY!

It’s a documentary actually…..not a “movie” – I believe you are misinformed but nice try. If Obama gets another 4 years our country will not be recognizable at the end of it.

I love Michelle Obama; I think she is one of the most poised first ladies we have ever had. I will miss tonight’s DNC because of my new work schedule at Dish. I recently purchased a Hopper, and it has Prime Time Anytime, so it automatically records programs from the big four networks without taking any space on my DVR. I like how the media has played out the battle of the “first wives.” For me there is no contest, Michelle wins hands down.

Maybe you need to do some homework & stop relying on FOX news (or soundbites) for information. PRESIDENT Obama saved the economy from a depression status, ended the war in Afghanistan & brought those troops home when he said he would, implemented UNIVERSAL healthcare because EVERYBODY deserves medical treatment if it’s needed & wait for it, executed the capture & killing of the MOST dangerous terrorist in american history … Osama Bin Laden! You do remember 9/11 don’t you? So while Bush in his last 4 years was making speeches from battleships about false wars, Obama was in the war room watching the execution go down as he ordered it. P.S. 2016 is fiction idiot, created by an a*shole trying to use a scare tactic to promote the zomney/cry’an ticket. ANYONE w/ a vagina should not vote for the GOP ticket … who is zomney/cry’an to tell a woman what she can or can’t do w/ her body.

Learn to spell, punctuate and capitalize. Then, maybe you can TRY to give political advice.
