While watching dad San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro make history as the first Latino to deliver a keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention, adorable 3-year-old Carina Victoria fluffed her hair! Watch the scene-stealing video!
Mayor Julián Castro delivered a powerful and historic speech on Sept. 4 at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., but his 3-year-old daughter Carina Victoria Castro was more interested in her hair than her dad behind the podium.
The San Antonio mayor was the first Latino to give a keynote speech during a DNC. However, his daughter was the one who stole the spotlight by flipping her hair and rolling her eyes!
“Today, my beautiful wife Erica and I are the proud parents of a three-year-old little girl, Carina Victoria, named after my grandmother,” the mayor said.
“A couple of Mondays ago was her first day of pre-K. As we dropped her off, we walked out of the classroom, and I found myself whispering to her, as was once whispered to me, ‘Que dios te bendiga.’ ‘May God bless you,’ he added, and when cameras cut to little Carina Victoria, it was clear she was bored — and not at all into what her dad was saying!
“She’s still young, and her dreams are far off yet, but I hope she’ll reach them,” he continued to a room full of laughter.
“As a dad, I’m going to do my part, and I know she’ll do hers. But our responsibility as a nation is to come together and do our part, as one community, one United States of America, to ensure opportunity for all of our children,” he said.
It was a heartfelt speech that brought delegates to their feet, but it was his daughter who brought on the laughs! Watch the adorable video below (Carina Victoria makes her debut around the 16:50 mark).
